How to cause Death by Lightning in The Sims 4

The-Sims-4-death-by-lightning

Death by Lightning typically occurs when a Sim is struck by lightning twice. To increase your Sim’s chances of getting hit by lightning, have them carry an umbrella when there’s a thunderstorm outside.

This type of death is specific to the Seasons expansion pack. The animation is similar to that of Death by Electrocution but the source of the electric shock is different.

The first time your Sim gets struck by lightning, they’ll become Dazed and Supercharged.

After the second lightning strike, they’re able to summon lightning and direct it anywhere they want. This is a temporary ability. It only lasts a day.

However, Sims cannot use this newly-acquired power to strike another Sim.

Be careful if you try to get this power on purpose. Ideally, you should get the Storm Chaser trait first, and then try to get this power.

This is because your Sims may die after the second lightning strike. Getting the power to summon lightning is not guaranteed.

Lightning strikes are rare random events. Even if you your Sims stay outside for a whole thunderstorm, they may never get struck by lightning.

Sims are scared of thunderstorms

Sims will often get the Scared of Thunderstorms moodlet even when they’re indoors during a storm. To make Sims stop being afraid of thunderstorms, try to override the Scared buff with positive emotions.

Or you can simply edit your game settings and disable thunderstorms completely.

If you get the Storm Chaser Trait From The Rewards Store, your Sim will actually start to love stormy weather. They’ll become immune to Death by Lightning and more likely to get struck by lightning.

They’ll get also a funny “That Was Totally Awesome!” happy buff when they get struck by lightning.

Learn more about Sim Deaths

If watching your Sims getting struck by lightning doesn’t really appeal to you, you can trigger death by starvationoverexertion, meteorite, fire, Pufferfish, Cowplant, or drowning.

Other potentially deadly activities include drinking Beetle Juice, sniffing a Death Flower bouquet, rock climbing, using the Research Machine, relaxing in the sauna, using a vending machine, opening a Murphy Bed, or making a wish at the Wishing Well.

If you have Seasons, Sims can freeze to death, or get heatstroke.

The Sims 4 universe is full of angry flies, poisonous bugs, pets infected with Rabid Rodent Fever, and revengeful Mother Plants.

By the way, spellcasters can die of Magic Overload and vampires can burn to a crisp from sun exposure.

Emotional deaths such as Death by Anger, Laughter, and Embarrassment are also interesting options although they require a lot of work to trigger.

If your Sims live in the countryside, angry rabbits and chickens can attack and kill them.

If you want to get rid of teenagers, you’ve got two options: Death by Stink Capsule or Urban Myth.

Well, if your Sims have managed to escape all these dangers, they can’t escape Old Age.

Or maybe they can if you disable this feature.

Happy Simming!
