The Sims 4: Death by Magic Overload explained

The-Sims-4-death-by-spellcaster-overload

To trigger Death by Magic Overload, have your spellcaster cast several spells in a row until the Magic meter fills up. When the meter gets full, your Sim will become overloaded with Magic. An extreme Magic discharge will take place which can kill them.

The meter gradually fills up as your Spellcaster uses magic. When this happens, they risk losing control of their powers which leads to death.

Pushing Spellcasters to the limits can be deadly.

The first Magic Overload episode won’t kill your Spellcaster. However, if this is repeated, the second discharge will definitely kill them.

Sims that died of Magic Overload turn into ghosts that charge up, overload, and blow up like any other spellcaster. The main difference is that they can’t die again from Magic Overload.

Well, that makes perfect sense. They’re already dead.

They also emit a bright glow from their chest. This is a handy clue that tells you they died from Magic Overload.

How do I stop my Sims from overcharging?

To prevent your Spellcaster from overcharging, get the Discharge perk. This is a Level 1 Spellcaster perk that allows you to safely discharge Magic.

Basically, this perk allows you to drain your Spellcaster’s charge to avoid exploding from overcharge.

You can also get the Charge Control perk that lets your Sims cast more spells before they overcharge.

However, these perks can only delay Magic overcharge and won’t completely disable Death by Overcharge.

You need a different perk to make your Spellcaster immune to Magic overcharge.

How can I prevent Death by Magic Overcharge?

To prevent Death by Magic Overload in The Sims 4, you need to get the Magical Resonance perk. This perk allows you to avoid Death by Overcharge completely.

Your Spellcaster will still explode when overcharged. However, they will no longer run the risk of dying as long as they remain in The Magic Realm.

If you’re tired of this Magic thing, you can stop being a Spellcaster. Find a Sage, click on the Magic menu and select Ask For Rite of Dissolution.

By the way, did you know that werewolves were initially created by spellcasters to stop vampires from turning everyone into blood-thirty creatures?

Learn more about Sim Deaths

If Death by Magic Overload doesn’t really appeal to you, you can trigger death by starvation, electrocution, overexertion, meteorite, fire, Pufferfish, Cowplant, or drowning.

Other potentially deadly activities include drinking Beetle Juice, sniffing a Death Flower bouquet, rock climbing, using the Research Machine, relaxing in the sauna, using a vending machine, opening a Murphy Bed, or making a wish at the Wishing Well.

If you have Seasons, Sims can freeze to death, get heatstroke, or get struck by lightning.

The Sims 4 universe is full of angry flies, poisonous bugs, pets infected with Rabid Rodent Fever, and revengeful Mother Plants.

By the way, vampires can burn to a crisp from sun exposure.

Emotional deaths such as Death by Anger, Laughter, and Embarrassment are also interesting options although they require a lot of work to trigger.

If your Sims live in the countryside, angry rabbits and chickens can attack and kill them.

If you want to get rid of teenagers, you’ve got two options: Death by Stink Capsule or Urban Myth.

Well, if your Sims have managed to escape all these dangers, they can’t escape Old Age.

Or maybe they can if you disable this feature.

Happy Simming!
