Here’s how Death by Starvation works in The Sims 4

The-Sims-4-death-by-Starvation

It takes 48 hours for a Sim to die of starvation in The Sims 4. If your Sim doesn’t eat for 24 hours, they’ll become Ravenous. If another 24 hours pass without your Sim eating, they’ll die of starvation.

Long story short, your Sim will die once the Ravenous moodlet has expired.

The best way to trigger Death by Starvation in The Sims 4 is to lock your Sim in a room with no doors and no food source. After 48 hours your Sim will be dead.

If you don’t want to be that mean to your Sims, you can simply remove all food sources. Delete the cooker, fridge, microwave oven, and other household appliances that Sims could use to autonomously fill their Hunger needs.

If you want to speed up the process, you can trigger the Ravenous buff and wait for 24 hours.

The quickest way to trigger the Ravenous moodlet is through cheats. Use the sims.add_buff Buff_Motives_Hunger_Starving cheat code to instantly trigger the Ravenous moodlet.

What happens if you don’t feed your Sims?

If you have Autonomy enabled, your Sims will autonomously start cooking when they’re too Hungry. On the other hand, if Autonomy is disabled, they’ll just stand around without doing anything.

If you continue to neglect their Hunger needs, the Hunger bar will get in the red and your Sims will die within 48 hours.

Can children die of starvation in The Sims 4?

Babies, toddlers, children, pets, and livestock can’t starve to death in The Sims 4. Their Hunger needs will never drop low enough to threaten their lives.

If you neglect children and fail to feed them, social services will take them away before they can starve.

Learn more about Sim Deaths

If starving your Sims doesn’t really appeal to you, you can trigger death by electrocution, overexertion, meteorite, fire, Pufferfish, Cowplant, or drowning.

Other potentially deadly activities include drinking Beetle Juice, sniffing a Death Flower bouquet, rock climbing, using the Research Machine, relaxing in the sauna, using a vending machine, opening a Murphy Bed, or making a wish at the Wishing Well.

If you have Seasons, Sims can freeze to death, get heatstroke, or get struck by lightning.

The Sims 4 universe is full of angry flies, poisonous bugs, pets infected with Rabid Rodent Fever, and revengeful Mother Plants.

By the way, spellcasters can die of Magic Overload and vampires can burn to a crisp from sun exposure.

Emotional deaths such as Death by Anger, Laughter, and Embarrassment are also interesting options although they require a lot of work to trigger.

If your Sims live in the countryside, angry rabbits and chickens can attack and kill them.

If you want to get rid of teenagers, you’ve got two options: Death by Stink Capsule or Urban Myth.

Well, if your Sims have managed to escape all these dangers, they can’t escape Old Age.

Or maybe they can if you disable this feature.

Happy Simming!
