Using the small telescope in The Sims 4 for stargazing may sometimes result in Death by Meteorite. This is a rare event that only occurs at night time.
When a meteorite is heading for your Sim, you’ll get a notification that says they just noticed a meteor is heading right for them.
Sims will instantly get the Scared buff that says: It’s coming right for me! It’s a bird, it’s a plane. It’s a meteorite! And it’s heading right for your Sim! Run for cover!
The buff lasts for only 18 minutes. If your Sim fails to find shelter quickly, they’ll cower in fear, and they’ll get crushed by a meteorite. Death will be instantaneous and the Grim Reaper will promptly show up on your lot.
Sims that die by meteorites get a tiny meteorite burning on their chest.
Death by Meteorite is only targeted at the Sim that spotted the meteorite. If a group of Sims gathers together to view the night sky, only the Sim that noticed the meteor will get crushed.
As EA explains:
Viewing the night sky can be dangerous work. If your Sim notices something is coming straight for them… get inside quickly! Death by meteorite is now a thing! So are meteorite ghosts! Who knew?
Have your Sim die on a Full Moon
The phases of the moon change every night by default. There are eight moon phases available in The Sims 4. Of course, you can also tweak your settings and set a permanent moon phase. For example, you can give your Sims a permanent Full Moon.
However, they might get bored from watching the same moon phase over and over again. But if you want your Sims to die on a Full Moon, you can enable this option.
You can also use the small telescope to spy on your neighbors. Using it for that purpose won’t get your Sim killed.
I know I’m planning to have my Sims watch the night sky for hours on end hoping to witness Death by Meteorite. I’m not going to have them find shelter just for the fun of it.
Are you planning to do the same? Let me know in the comments below.
⇒ Fun Fact:
Did you know that you can tell how a Sim died by analyzing their behavior and appearance?
Learn more about Sim Deaths
If watching your Sims getting crushed by a meteorite doesn’t really appeal to you, you can trigger death by starvation, electrocution, overexertion, fire, Pufferfish, Cowplant, or drowning.
Other potentially deadly activities include drinking Beetle Juice, sniffing a Death Flower bouquet, rock climbing, using the Research Machine, relaxing in the sauna, using a vending machine, opening a Murphy Bed, or making a wish at the Wishing Well.
If you have Seasons, Sims can freeze to death, get heatstroke, or get struck by lightning.
The Sims 4 universe is full of angry flies, poisonous bugs, pets infected with Rabid Rodent Fever, and revengeful Mother Plants.
By the way, spellcasters can die of Magic Overload and vampires can burn to a crisp from sun exposure.
Emotional deaths such as Death by Anger, Laughter, and Embarrassment are also interesting options although they require a lot of work to trigger.
If your Sims live in the countryside, angry rabbits and chickens can attack and kill them.
If you want to get rid of teenagers, you’ve got two options: Death by Stink Capsule or Urban Myth.
Well, if your Sims have managed to escape all these dangers, they can’t escape Old Age.
Or maybe they can if you disable this feature.
Happy Simming!
