Caring for infants and toddlers has become a much more complex task thanks to the Infants Update. If you own the Growing Together expansion pack, things can get even more complicated.
Raising a child is a time and energy-consuming task. Feeding them, and changing their diaper is not enough.
Don’t worry, I got you covered. I have a bunch of tips and tricks to help you raise happy infants and toddlers.
How to make parenting easier in The Sims 4
Choose your kids’ traits wisely
Your toddler’s traits influence their behavior when Autonomy is on.
The best toddler traits that will make toddlers easy to raise are Angelic, Calm, Charmer, Independent, and Sunny.
Traits such as Clingy, Wild, Fussy, or Intense require a lot more attention. If your toddlers get sad, comfort them.
If you own Growing Together, choose your Infant and Toddler Quirks wisely.
You can change an infant’s or toddler’s behavior through quirks.
Get a crib and a high chair
If your kid is a bit wiggly, put them in a crib or a high chair to prevent them from exploring the house without their parents’ or caregivers’ supervision.
By the way, infants can try new foods in the high chair. That’s a great way to learn what kind of food they enjoy the most.
Potty train your toddlers ASAP
You’ll need a potty chair for potty training.
Potty train your toddlers as soon as possible. Get them past the basics, so they can use the potty on their own.
This skill saves you a lot of time.

Get them a playpen and lots of toys
Kids can get stressed out without toys, especially when they’re really young.
Infants and toddlers can acquire new skills through play.
Get them a playpen to help them build their fine and gross motor skills.
Toddlers can use toys to build additional skills. For example, they can talk about toys and develop their Communication skill.
They can also level up their Imagination skill by naming their toys.
Don’t forget to play with your toddlers. They love spending time with their parents.
Babyproof your house
If you don’t want toddlers to roam around freely, babyproof your house.
Simply click on the door you want to lock for toddlers and select Apply Baby Proofing.
Keep in mind that Wild toddlers may try to break loose. They can force babyproofed doors and try to get out.
And they may sometimes manage to break loose.
Get the Fresh Chef reward trait
If one of the parents has the Fresh Chef trait, the food they cook never spoils.
They can cook a bunch of meals while the other parent is taking care of the kids.
Place the meals in your toddlers’ inventories. With Autonomy on, they’ll whip out the plate on their own and eat whenever they’re hungry.
You’ll never have to worry about feeding them.
This strategy is particularly helpful if you have more than two toddlers in the household.
Hire a nanny and a maid
If your Sims have a large family, taking care of toddlers can be a nightmare, especially if you have triplets.
With the Science Baby feature, you can instantly add new members to your household. If you’re lucky, you’ll get twins and even triplets.
You can hire a nanny to help your Sims take care of their offspring when they’re away.
You can also hire a maid to help you keep the house clean.
Help your kids build self-confidence
Make sure to raise your child Sims right. Too many negative experiences and harsh criticism can lead to low self-esteem.
In The Sims 4 Growing Together, children can have neutral, low, or high confidence.
To boost your child’s Confidence level, use friendly interactions, and don’t forget to compliment and praise them whenever you have the chance.
Additional tips and tricks
Once the toddlers are asleep, lock all of their doors. They often get nightmares and will wake their parents up in the middle of the night to comfort them.
Choose a work-from-home career. In this manner, Sims can stay at home and take care of their kids while still putting bread on the table.
Move in another Sim to help with child-rearing. For example, you can ask one of the grandparents to move in.
Prepare breakfast the night before. Drag it out from the fridge in the morning.
Place a radio in your kids’ room and play soft music. That should keep them entertained for a while.
Happy Simming!
