To reflect a new experience of having Sims of different ages interact with each other, the Infants Update and Growing Together expansion pack bring important changes in terms of social interaction options.
There are a ton of new infant and elder interactions that you can explore during your gameplay.
For example, elders can sneak a treat to their favorite grandchild.
They can also use the “You’re are my favorite” interaction and tell their grandchildren how much they love and appreciate them.
Elders can also reminisce on good times and give lessons on money, friendship, love, hard work, dreams, family, misbehavior, and responsibility.

- If you own Parenthood and give a life lesson to a child, this action will increase the corresponding character value.
You have a bunch of new interactions to perform with infants and toddlers.
You can make scary faces, call a toddler a toiler sniffer, a boogie eater, claim they’re a PlantSim or an alien, and so on.
When Sims have been interacting in a certain way, a pop-up will appear on the screen suggesting a certain family dynamic should be enabled.
You can either accept the suggestion or reject it.
This is an example of how the game responds to how you’re playing.
Even if you do have a set family dynamic, there’s a chance it might change depending on how you’re playing with your Sims and the social interactions you use.
Social interaction changes in the base game
EA added a major change to the base game that will make the experience of interacting with two Sims of different ages completely different based on the age combos.
The relationship gain and loss multipliers have been changed for every combination of Sims interacting.
Cross-age relationship changes
Some Sims will find it hard to gain relationship when interacting with other Sims of other ages due to differences.
Some ages will find it easier to gain relationship with other ages.
Children will gain relationship much faster with other children simply because they get each other.
However, they’ll struggle quite a bit to level up their relationship with teens. This is because teens either tend to ignore toddlers or nag them all day long.
These changes are not super drastic, but they’re noticeable and will make building cross-age relationships a bit more challenging and unpredictable.
