Can my Sim confess to cheating on their partner in The Sims 4?
Sims that have the Loyal trait can confess to cheating in The Sims 4. If your Sim doesn’t have the Loyal trait, there is no option to have them confess to cheating. This means there is no direct way for your Sims to confess to cheating on their partners.
Previous Sims editions, such as The Sims 3 fully supported this option allowing Sims to confess to cheating.
How do Sims react to cheating?
If your Sim has the Jealous trait, they will react in a negative way when learning their partner cheated on them. They’ll slap their partner, and address them with some nasty words. They will also get the Sad or Angry moodlet.
The relationship bar will get affected negatively.
However, they’re not going to do anything major or break up with the unfaithful partner right away.
If your Sim is not jealous, they’ll rarely react badly to cheating. Some of them may get a Sad or Angry moodlet but that’s pretty much all you’ll see from them in terms of reactions.
The Sim caught cheating will get embarrassed. If the two are married, the Divorce option will show up but Sims won’t autonomously use it.
Only Simmers can use the option to divorce which will make your Sim sad for a few days.
If you want your Sims to decide autonomously if they break up or not, you need to install a dedicated mod for that.
If you’ve played previous Sims games, you may miss those clear reactions to cheating.
For example, if your Sim came home and caught their partner in bed with another Sim, they would freak out and kick them out. They would be angry at both of them.
If the couple had children, the kids would get angry at the cheating parent.

Cheated Sims might die of shame
Now, if the cheated Sim has both the jealous trait and they’re in public when learning their partner is unfaithful, they might die of shame. This is one of the three causes of emotional death in The Sims 4.
When I first got TS4 and made my first family, my Sim died because she caught her husband cheating on her with Don Lothario. She had the jealous trait.That’s the ultimate break up.
Can Sims have affairs in Sims 4?
In The Sims 4, Sims who are already involved in a romantic relationship can have affairs. They can interact romantically with other Sims.
As a matter of fact, using any type of romantic social interaction on a Sim other than their partner is considered cheating.
When the betrayed partner notices that behavior, they will get angry and the relationship bar will decrease. If the affair ends up in a divorce, the Sim that was cheated on won’t get the Divorced moodlet.
