The Sims 4: Here’s why you can’t Try For Baby

The-Sims-4-cannot-Try-For-Baby

If you want your Sim to have a large family, you’ve got two main options: use the Try For Baby interaction as many times as you like or simply click on the phone and adopt a few kids.

If you decide to go for the Try For Baby option, you’ll need to wait around 5-6 Sim days from the moment your Sim gets pregnant to meet the new member of the household.

If you’re lucky, your Sim may give birth to twins or even triplets. You can even influence the gender of the baby. For example, if you want a baby girl, have your Sim eat strawberries during pregnancy.

But sometimes the Try For Baby interaction is not available.

Why can’t I Try For Baby in The Sims 4?

If you can’t use the Try For Baby interaction in The Sims 4, this indicates your Sim is already pregnant, they have custom gender settings or there are already eight Sims living in your household.

You can’t use the Try For Baby interaction with teens and elders as they can’t get pregnant.

As a quick reminder, your household is capped at eight members.

To use the Try For Baby interaction, move one of your Sims out or simply kill them to make room for a new baby.

Equally important, ensure no one in the household is pregnant. That can quickly put the household up to 8 Sims.

Keep in mind that it’s possible to have triplets.

Custom gender settings can prevent you from Trying For Baby

Custom gender settings may sometimes prevent you from using the Try For Baby interaction.

To use this interaction, one of the Sims needs to be able to get other Sims pregnant while your female Sim needs to be able to become pregnant.

If the current gender settings are preventing your Sims from either getting pregnant or getting others pregnant, that explains why you can’t use the Try For Baby interaction.

Disable mods and repair your game files

If it isn’t one of the above cases, check if your mods are causing this issue. Move your Mods folder to your desktop. Additionally, go to your Origin Library, right-click on The Sims 4, and select Repair Game.

Restart The Sims 4 and check if you can use the Try For Baby interaction.

If the option is available, move your Mods back to the main game folder one by one. Check if you can use the Try For Baby interaction after each mod to identify the culprit.

If this solution solved the problem, get ready for a few sleepless nights. Babies cry a lot.

Happy Simming!
