What happens when my Sim moves out in Sims 4?

When you move to a different household in The Sims 4, you can either take everything with you or sell your possessions. When you get to the Move screen, there are two options available in the drop-down menu: Keep Furniture or Sell Furniture.

If you select Keep Furniture, all the items from your old house will be placed into household inventory and you can take them with you to the new house.

If you select Sell Furniture, all the pieces of furniture that haven’t been moved to your household inventory will get sold and your Sim will cash in some extra Simoleons in return.

If you want to keep important items such as masterpiece paintings or upgraded items, place them in your Sim’s inventory before moving out. You can then select “Sell Furniture” to get rid of all the other items you don’t want to take with you.

Always save your game before moving to a different house or lot. In this manner, you’ll be able to restore your save, in case something goes wrong.

How do I move a house to a different lot in Sims 4?

To move a house to a different lot, enter Build Mode and save a copy of the house to your library. Then, move upgraded and crafted items to your Sim’s inventory or household inventory.

Next, go to Manage Worlds, select your new lot, and enter Build Mode. Take the old house from your library and place it on your new lot.

Your old house will be transferred to the new lot. Use the Move Out Household option to move your Sims to the new lot.

Feel free to load up your household and arrange all the items to your liking.

Moving your entire house to a new lot is more complex than moving your Sim to a new household.

⇒Important Note: If you move out without saving crafted or upgraded items to either your Sim’s or household inventory, you’ll lose them when you move to a new lot.

What happens to retail assets when my Sim moves?

Your retail assets stay with the household, not the lot when you move. Retail assets remain with their buildings no matter where your Sim moves. In other words, your retail business won’t be affected when your Sim moves.

What happens to your stuff when you move out in Sims 4?

You can only keep the things you put in your inventory when you move out and chose to sell your furniture.

If you choose to keep your furniture, you won’t lose any of your household items when you move out.

If you have a big house with a big garden and upload everything to your library, all the things, plants, and garden produce will go with you if you keep your furniture when you move out.

The only exception is planter boxes.

Put important items and upgraded stuff in your inventory before moving out

You should always put key items and upgraded stuff in your household inventory before moving out to make sure the game transfers them to your new residence.

Go into Build & Buy Mode and put upgraded items, career rewards, garden plants, and other key items into the household inventory. After moving out, you can put all of them back at your new residence.

Can I take my plants with me when I move out in Sims 4?

To take your plants with you when you move to a different house or lot in The Sims 4, place them in your household inventory. They won’t wither if you keep them in your inventory for a while. Place them on the new lot from there.

The plants will need some time to grow again but the quality should be the same.

Putting your plants in your family inventory when moving out is a great idea if you want to grow a garden at your Sim’s new residence without starting from scratch.

However, you won’t be able to place garden boxes in your inventory and take them with you when you move out.

After packing all the plants in your household inventory, you can safely sell the rest of your items.

Don’t upload your garden to the gallery. You won’t be able to bring all your plants to the new residence.

Harvest your plants before putting them into your inventory

Make sure to harvest everything before putting your plants into your household inventory. If you don’t do that, you’ll end up with loose fruits and garden produce after you move out.

If you have a money tree, you may want to put it in your inventory before harvesting to get Money Tree seeds and plant them at your new residence.

Conclusion

When you move out in The Sims 4, you can either sell everything or transfer your items to your new residence. Save a copy of your household to your library before moving out. Always put important items, plants, and upgraded stuff in your household inventory before moving out. You can then take them out of the inventory and place them on the lot.
