Cottage Living is one of my favorite Sims 4 expansion packs. But after growing lots of crops, canning a lot of food, and foraging mushrooms, my Sims always end up with too many veggies and fruit in their inventory.
One of my favorite activities is selling produce at a yard sale. You can sell all kinds of stuff at a yard sale: baked goods, canned food, flowers, things you no longer need or use, you name it.
If you haven’t hosted a yard sale before, keep on reading this guide to learn how to do a successful yard sale in The Sims 4.
Purchase a special yard sale table
You need to purchase a special flea market table to have your very own yard sale in The Sims 4.
You need to have Eco Lifestyle, Jungle Adventure, or City Living installed to buy this special yard sale table. Go to Activities and Skills, select your yard sale table, and place it on your lot.
The yard sale table is not available in the base game.
The table has its own inventory. You can simply drag and drop anything you want to sell into the table inventory.
Set the price and start the yard sale
To start selling the items stored in your yard sale table inventory, have your Sim tend the table. Then, click on Mark Up Prices and set the price for the items you want to sell. Click on Start Yard Sale to launch the sale.
The best part is that you can mark everything up to 300 percent. Setting a yard sale table can be more lucrative than opening a retail lot.
By the way, the table’s inventory acts like a refrigerator slowing down the food spoiling process.
Mind you, that’s slowing down the process, not stopping it completely.
Sell orchid arrangements for thousands of Simoleons
If you’re planning to sell floral arrangements and fizz juice, you’re in for a nice profit.
Many Simmers have confirmed they typically get over 20,000 Simoleons for their most expensive orchid bouquets.
If you’re looking to increase your earnings, try selling pink orchid arrangements. You should be able to get around 30,000 Simoleons for each arrangement with the marketable reward trait on.
Selling orchid arrangements at a 300% markup is one of the fastest ways to become rich in The Sims 4.
Orchid arrangements typically cost 800 Simoleons to make. If you level up your flower arranging skill, you can make over 20,000 Simoleons from a single bouquet using the 300% yard sale markup.
Refrigerate fizz juice before selling it at a yard sale
If you’re selling fizz juice at your yard sale, you need to refrigerate it before selling it. Fizz juice usually goes bad pretty fast.
Customers won’t come back to you if you sell them spoiled juice.

If you’re like me and your Sim has a farm, you can start a yard sale and sell your Cottage Living veggies and fruits.
Lock your doors
Always lock your house doors when hosting a yard sale. If you don’t do that, townies and NPCs will keep wandering around your house.
If some of them have the kleptomaniac trait, don’t be surprised if things start to disappear from your house.
To prevent unwanted visitors from entering your house, lock your doors and basically force them to shift their focus to your yard sale.
