The Sims 4: Vegetarian Sims don’t know they’re vegetarian

Sims-4-Vegetarian-Sim

Vegetarian Sims will instantly get sick if they eat meat and fish. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to realize that eating meat and fish is not an option for them.

If autonomy is on, your vegetarian Sim will often grab meat-based dishes on their own.

That’s why many Simmers have given up on the trait.

The Vegetarian trait doesn’t make Sims more defiant. If you have them cook and eat meat-based dishes, they do it as if they didn’t know that would make them sick.

Interestingly enough, in The Sims 3, vegetarian Sims cannot cook non-vegetarian dishes.

Well, if you haven’t used the Vegetarian trait before, keep on reading this guide to learn how it changes your Sim’s behavior and preferences.

How do you make a Sim vegetarian in The Sims 4?

To make a Vegetarian Sim in The Sims 4, go to CAS, click on one of your Sim’s trait slots, and select the Vegetarian trait.

Your vegetarian Sim’s culinary choices are pretty limited. If you don’t want them to get sick, make sure they eat vegetarian-safe foods.

Vegetarian Sims can use two additional interactions: Discuss Vegetarian Benefits and Enthuse about Vegetarianism.

You can use these interactions to promote vegetarianism and hopefully convince other Sims to ditch meat.

Do Vegetarian Sims live longer in The Sims 4?

If you’re using the same lifespan settings, you’ll notice that vegetarian Sims tend to live longer than non-vegetarian Sims.

Based on my own experience, on average, vegetarian Sims live 3 days longer than non-vegetarian Sims.

However, the best way to extend your Sim’s life is to either disable aging or complete the Bodybuilder aspiration to unlock the Long-Lived trait.

This trait allows your Sim to live for 25 days longer than other elders.

What can Vegetarian Sims eat?

Vegetarian Sims can eat plants, mushrooms, cheese, milk, and eggs. They’ll get the Happy buff when eating vegetarian foods.

Vegetarian vampires can drink plasma from plasma fruits, plasma drinks, or plasma packs. If they have a Withered Stomach, they can’t eat food prepared for normal Sims. If they do, they’ll instantly get nauseous.

Vegetarian werewolves won’t eat raw meat. As a matter of fact, they’ll bring back mushrooms instead of raw meat when they go hunting.

What happens if a Vegetarian Sim eats meat?

When a vegetarian Sim eats meat, they’ll instantly get the Uncomfortable buff. They’ll get the Violating Principles moodlet which makes them feel sad about eating meat.

You’ll also get a “Vegetarian Lesson” notification which reminds you that your Sim should avoid foods made with meat.

If they finish the meal, they’ll feel Very Uncomfortable and the option to throw up will show up if you click on the toilet.

The Very Uncomfortable buff will disappear after throwing up.

Can Vegetarian Sims eat eggs and drink milk?

Vegetarian Sims can eat eggs and drink milk without any problem. Eggs and milk are not meat-based products, so they’re safe for your vegetarian Sims.

By the way, if you own Cottage Living, you can raise chickens for eggs and cows for milk.

You can even make your own cheese.

Is Ramen vegetarian-safe in Sims 4?

Not all Ramen dishes are vegetarian-safe in The Sims 4. Miso, Seaweed, and Egg Ramen are vegetarian-safe. They’re listed as such at the food stalls in San Myshuno.

On the other hand, Ramen, and Beef Ramen contain meat and are not safe to eat for vegetarian Sims.

Can you be vegan in The Sims 4?

The Vegan trait is not available in The Sims 4. This means you cannot create vegan Sims in CAS.

However, you can limit your Sim’s food choices to plant-based foods. Make sure they don’t eat any animal products, including eggs and dairy, and they’ll technically be vegan.

Happy Simming!
