Sims-4-play-Rags-to-Riches

The Rags to Riches challenge is one of the most popular Sims 4 challenges. If you want to spice things up and make your Sim’s life extremely difficult, then this challenge is for you.

The idea behind the Rags to Riches challenge is simple. You have your Sim start from zero Simoleons and work their way to riches without holding down a job.

I’ll list the main rules below.

How do you do the Rags to Riches challenge in The Sims 4?

To play the Rags to Riches challenge, move your Sim onto an empty lot or bulldoze everything down. Then, use the “Money 0” cheat to get rid of your Sim’s money and launch the challenge. Start making money without getting a job.

Step 1: Create your Sim

Enter CAS and create your Sim. Select whatever aspiration and traits you want. Your Sim can be a teen, young adult, adult, or elder. You can use whatever life span you want or even turn aging off.

Since your Sim is technically homeless, you may want to make them look a bit rough. However, that’s not mandatory.

Step 2: Move your Sim onto any lot

After creating your Sim in CAS, move them to any lot in any world. If there’s a house on the lot, bulldoze the entire thing. The lot needs to be empty.

Step 3: Remove money

To launch the challenge, cheat your Sim’s money to zero Simoleons.

Follow the steps below to remove your Sim’s money:

  1. Press Ctrl, Shift, and C to open the console
  2. Type in testingcheats true to enable cheat codes
  3. Then, type in Money 0 and press Enter

Step 4: Make money without getting a job

Unleash your imagination and start making money without holding down a job.

You are not allowed to get a job.

Other than that, you can use whatever methods you want to make money. You can fish, dig for treasures, grow your own garden, and live off the land.

You can do anything that doesn’t involve taking on a career.

Once you’ve earned some money, you can do whatever you want with it. However, getting a bed, fridge, and toilet should be your number one priority.

You may also want to invest your money into things that can make you even more money.

For example, you can buy an easel, learn to paint, and sell your paintings for extra Simoleons.

You can decide what your definition of “rich” is. You can end the challenge after earning 25,000 Simoleons or keep going until you get 1 million Simoleons.

What can I do when playing Rags to Riches?

  • Use public places to sleep.
  • You can sleep at a friend’s house
  • For hygiene, use public bathrooms
  • You can steal food to keep your Sim alive
  • Live off the land
  • Having the Kleptomaniac trait will come in handy
  • You can purchase the Always Welcome trait to feel at home at other Sims’ residences
  • You can ask friends to give you some money

Make use of community lots to make your Sim’s life easier. For example, your Sim can go to the local library and write books to earn royalties.

Level up your Writing skill to write books faster.

Since The Sims 4 doesn’t support sleeping bags, you have no choice but to sleep on park benches if your friends won’t let you in.

⇒ Important Notes

  • You can’t use mods and cheats that help you complete the challenge faster
  • You can only use cheats to remove money, reset your Sim or move objects

Variations of the Rags to Riches challenge

There are different variations to this challenge. You can play the extreme versions of Rags to Riches which greatly limits your Sim’s choices.

For example, you cannot sell anything out of your Sim’s inventory. To bypass this limitation, you can host a yard sale or sell your stuff on Plopsy.

Another challenge variation requires your Sim to reach Level 5 of the Handiness skill before they can start building a house.

Irrespective of the way you choose to play the Rags to Riches challenge, the fact that you start with zero Simoleons and you’re not allowed to get a job will make your Sim’s life very difficult.

Well, your Sim will often feel uncomfortable but you need to keep pushing them in the right direction to win the challenge.

If you don’t like the idea of struggling to make ends meet, you can marry for money. Or you can incorporate the idea of marrying for money into your Rags to Riches challenge.

Happy Simming!
