They say that every beginning has an end. The same is valid in The Sims 4. When you create a new Sim, you know the day will come when the Grim Reaper will show up on your lot to reap their soul.
Some Sims may not even reach elderhood due to unexpected accidents. There are many hazards and potentially deadly items that can kill your Sims.
I’ll list them below so that you can keep your Sims away from them.
The Sims 4: Objects that can kill Sims
Telescopes
Pocket-size telescopes can get your Sim killed. If they star gaze or moon gaze for too long, they’ll eventually spot a meteorite heading straight for them. If they fail to find shelter quickly, the meteorite will kill them.
The good news is that Death by Meteorite is instantaneous. Your Sim won’t suffer.
Electric objects
If your Sim has low Handiness skills, they may get electrocuted and die while trying to repair broken electric objects. To prevent such accidents from happening, hire a handyman to get the job done.
Cheap stoves and fireplaces
Fire hazards are very common in The Sims 4. If your Sim cooks on a faulty stove or gets too close to a fireplace, they may catch on fire. If you can’t put out the fire, they’ll die.
Rocket ships
If your Sim is an astronaut and their rocket ship crashes and catches on fire, they’ll die instantly. The lower your Sim’s rocket science skills, the higher the chances of dying in a rocket ship crash.
Vending machines
Vending machines can kill your Sim. Sims that get crushed by a vending machine will get the Battered & Bruised buff. If they shake up the machine and jump on top of it while this buff is still on, they’ll get crushed again and die.
Murphy beds
If your Sim tries to put a Murphy bed down, they may get crushed to death. If the bed is already broken, there’s an 80% chance that your Sim gets crushed to death.
To avoid such accidents, you can upgrade Murphy beds to never break.
Wishing Well
There are 9 different types of wishes that Sims can make at a Wishing Well. Some wishes carry a potential death outcome. In other words, certain wishes can kill your Sim.
The following wishes have Death as a possible outcome:
- Happiness: The wishing Sim becomes hysterical and dies by laughter
- Promotion: Your Sim is demoted in their career, and they’ll die by cardiac explosion
- Simoleons: The wishing Sim may catch on fire and die
- Skill: Your Sim becomes mortified and dies of embarrassment
- Youthful Vigor: Your Sim will be blessed with perpetual youth and then die on the spot
Death Flower arrangement
A Death Flower arrangement can cause Sims to age up instantly. If an elder smells the arrangement, they’ll die on the spot.
Vampires will age up if gifted a Death Flower arrangement. However, they won’t die. They’ll stop at elderhood as they can’t die of old age.
By the way, your Sim needs to reach Level 9 of Flower Arranging to scent a Death Flower arrangement.
Poisonous items
If you have Jungle Adventure installed, keep an eye on poisonous darts and poisonous spiders. Passing through a Poison Gate can trigger a severe poison intoxication which may lead to death.
Find Bone Dust and get the antidote fast.

Bonus: Plants, insects, and animals that can kill Sims
- Cowplant: If a Sim gets eaten by a Cowplant twice, they’ll die. Make sure to take good care of your Cowplant to prevent such events.
- Mother Plant: If the Mother plant eats your Sim, they’ll die instantly.
- Flies: If you have Eco-Lifestyle, a swarm of flies can eat your Sim alive in a matter of seconds.
- Killer chickens: If you have Cottage Living installed, angry chickens can attack and kill your Sim.
- Killer rabbits: While you can befriend wild rabbits in Sims 4 Cottage Living, they can turn into killer rabbits if you upset them.
