There’s an intriguing question related to The Sims 4 that’s been around for quite some time, yet nobody has been able to give a specific or clear answer to it.
Why is my Sim sparkling? Your Sim is sparkling or stars appear around their bodies when they are doing some activity that’s closely related to a lot trait. The same thing happens when all of their needs are full.
In other words, if your Sim is doing something that’s related to the skills, moods, or actions affected by the lot trait, they’ll be sparkling with joy.
For example, if your Sim has fast internet, which is a lot trait in the base game, they will be sparkling with joy since this trait boosts their programming, video gaming, or writing skills.
In rare cases, all that sparkling might be related to a game bug. We’ll also cover this matter at the end of this guide.
Why Do my Sims Have Stars Around Them?
Your Sim may be sparkling stars after completing a challenge or after reaching a major milestone in their aspirations.
Sims may sometimes have stars around them from the full parent mode as well.
Why does my Sim have a rainbow over their head?
A rainbow may appear over your Sim’s head after they successfully accomplished a task or challenge. This indicates your Sim is happy with the results of their work. The rainbow is often connected to the good school lot trait.
Why is there a silver or golden shimmer around my Sim?
If your Sim is famous, they’ll get a silver or golden shimmer around them. That’s their way of getting even more attention.
The rainbow will definitely make your Sim stand out in the crowd.
Why does my Sim have green sparkles and leaves floating around them while talking to a plant?
Sims may have green sparkles floating around them when they reached a higher level of gardening, usually after they reached level 9 or 10.
The same thing happens when your Sim becomes a PlantSim.
Why is my Sim glowing in a particular color?
Aliens have the ability to glow the color of the mood they’re currently feeling provided that the mood is strong enough. A glowing Sim may indicate they are aliens. To confirm this hypothesis you can use the Get to Know interaction or peek in the Manage Households/CAS.
If your Sim is glowing red, this indicates they reached the Emperor of Evil stage in their Criminal career.
If your Sim is glowing pink, this could be because they went to the Romance Festival and drank the Sakura tea.
Your Sim is glowing red if they’re in a high level of emotion. They can be very happy, very flirty, very angry, and so on.
Your Sim may be glowing purple when the Very Focused is extremely high. They can also glow purple if they drank something at the Romance Festival that have them an aura of romance.
Sims can also end up glowing purple if they go to the Hijinks festival and drink from the Purple Fountain.
What to do if the sparkling is caused by a bug
If your Sims are sparkling or glowing because of a bug, here’s what you can do to fix this problem:
- Move your mods folder to the desktop and launch the game again to check if this solved the problem. The Sims 4 will generate a new mods folder. If the issue is gone, put your mods back into the newly generated mods folder and test after each one to identify which mod was causing the problem.
- Reset the sparkling or glowing Sim by typing resetSim Firstname Lastname and then hit Enter.
- Have that Sim travel to another lot and back.
- Repair the game — right-click on the Sims 4 in Origin and select Repair.
