You’ve got a lot of dragon slaying and enemy killing to do in Elden Ring. Every enemy you kill brings handy rewards, new items, and useful crafting materials.

For example, if you collect enough Dragon hearts, you can exchange them for Dragon incantations that will make you stronger.

As a bonus, you’ll also get yellow, dragon-like eyes.

Red-eyed enemies look particularly terrifying and for a good reason. They’re special. But there’s also something else about them.

Red-eyed enemies drop more Runes

Red-eyed enemies appear randomly. You should not skip them, they have a pretty high item drop rate and are not particularly strong.

However, red-eyed enemies do tend to be a bit more aggressive and persistent than other enemies.

They will often chase you across the map.

Some red-eyed enemies may drop 3K worth of Runes and even 15K on some rare occasions.

Golden-eyed enemies in Elden Ring

Golden-eyed enemies spawn randomly in Elden Ring and bring five times more Runes than enemies with normal eyes.

The good news is they’re a tad less aggressive than red-eyed enemies.

Conclusion

Glowing-eyed enemies drop more Runes and items than normal ones. They spawn randomly on the map. They’re not particularly strong but tend to have more health and be more persistent than their normal counterparts.

As a general rule of thumb, red eyes increase aggression, while gold eyes bring extra Runes.
