Elden Ring: Here’s why you character’s eyes change color

elden-ring-eyes-changed

Elden Ring offers a plethora of character customization options, including a variety of eye colors. But sometimes, the game may overwrite your character’s eyes color, changing them to yellow or red.

Why have my character’s eyes changed color in Elden Ring?

In Elden Ring, your character can have three different eye alterations: Dragon Eyes, Frenzied Flame Eyes, and Blood Eyes.

Dragon Eyes give you a dragon-like look, with a shiny golden yellow eye color and narrow, snake-like pupils.

Frenzied Flame Eyes make the whites of your eyes become pitch black, while the iris and pupils transform into a chaotic blur.

Blood Eyes make the eyes appear bloodshot, with the outer part turning red, while the pupils remain black.

Your character’s eyes change color after getting items and incantations or after eating certain items. Eating Dragon hearts, putting on the Godrick Knight armor, or becoming a knight of Mohg will alter your eye color.

If you don’t like your character’s new eye color, go to the mirror in the Hub, select Eyes, and disable eye changes.

The option is available at the very bottom of the eye menu.

My character’s eyes turned yellow in Elden Ring

Your character’s eyes will turn yellow after eating Dragon Hearts. Going to the altars of the Church of Dragon Communion and offering dragon hearts in exchange for incantations will have the same effect.

Wearing the Godrick Knight armor will change your character’s eyes to a solid, gold-like color.

After defeating the Flying Dragon Agheel, go to the Church of Dragon Communion at night and purchase one of the three dragon Incantations: Dragonclaw, Dragonfire, or Dragonmaw.

Keep in mind that the altar works only at night.

After offering the dragon hearts and getting the Dragon spells from the church, you become more dragon-like, hence the yellow eyes.

Dragon eyes appear inconsistently. Sometimes, your character’s eyes turn yellow after eating or offering 4, 5, 7, or 10 dragon hearts.

Other times, you’ll get golden eyes on the 4th or 5th incantation. Keep in mind that Dragon incantations require Faith and Arcane.

My character’s eyes turned red in Elden Ring

Your character’s eyes change to red when you become a knight of Mohg. Gaining the Bloody Finger will also change your eye color to red.

After getting red eyes, yellow eyes don’t appear no matter how many dragon hearts you eat or spells you cast. Red eyes always overlay golden eyes.

Conclusion

In Elden Ring, your character’s eyes change color and turn yellow when you cast Dragon incantations or eat Dragon hearts. Becoming a knight of Mohg or gaining the Bloody Finger will change your eye color to red. Red overlays yellow. After getting red eyes, you can’t get yellow eyes.
