Elden-Ring-kill-Miriel

Miriel, the Pastor of Vows is a friendly NPC in Elden Ring. He’ll teach you how to cast many handy sorceries and incantations. But what happens if Miriel disappears or you intentionally kill him? Let’s find out!

Should I kill Miriel the Turtle in Elden Ring?

You should definitely not kill Miriel, the Turtle Pope in Elden Ring. He serves as a guide and teacher for you and with him dead, you have no one to guide you through The Lands Between. He also tells you interesting things about the Elden Ring lore. Letting Miriel live brings far more advantages than killing him.

What happens if I kill Miriel, the Turtle Pope?

If you kill Miriel, the Turtle Pope, you’ll obtain Miriel’s Bell Bearing and 12 turtleneck meats. You can use give the Bell Bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold and buy various items you would otherwise get directly from Miriel.

But with Miriel dead, you won’t have a reliable friend to teach you sorceries and incantations, and reveal parts of the Elden Ring lore to you.

Miriel won’t hate you for killing him

After you start attacking Miriel, he’ll tell you your effort is futile and you cannot kill him. After reaching half way through his HP bar, he’ll tell he will never hold this against you and asks you to stop. He clearly refuses to retaliate against you for attacking him.

When you deliver the final blow, he’ll scream a sad scream mixed with pain and disappointment. You will never be able to learn together with Miriel after killing him.

The Turtle Pope is definitely bound to heaven thanks to his kindness and ability to forgive you for your violent behavior.

As you can see, killing Miriel is not a wise decision. Why harm an NPC that’s been so good to you?

And now you know.
