The Lunar cycle affects all the occult categories in The Sims 4. It can change their behavior and even affect their powers and energy.
Vampires can replenish their Vampire Energy much faster on nights with a New Moon. But they recharge their energy slower on Full Moon nights.
That makes sense as New Moons produce the darkest nights and vampires are creatures of the night.
The Moon is reflecting the Sun’s light. It doesn’t have its own source of light. That’s why Vampires don’t benefit from a Full Moon.
They may be super powerful at night in general, but become weak on Full Moon nights.
This gameplay mechanic is also related to the eternal Vampires vs. Werewolves feud.
The moment in which they are at maximum or minimum power occurs during opposite phases of the moon.
Werewolves are very strong during Full Moon. Their Fury increases exponentially during this phase of the moon.
On the other hand, vampires are weak during Full Moon, but exceptionally strong during New Moon nights.
Vampires are known to be rivals to werewolves. The Sims 4 perfectly reflects this fact: werewolves’ benefit is the vampires’ detriment.
By the way, moon bathing will make vampires feel Confident.
You can change your Lunar Cycle settings
As a quick reminder, there are eight lunar phases in The Sims 4:
- New Moon
- Waxing Crescent
- First Quarter
- Waxing Gibbous
- Full Moon
- Waning Gibbous
- Third Quarter
- Waning Crescent
Full Moons produce the brightest nights.
You can change the Lunar Cycle settings from Game Options. Select Environment, click on Lunar Cycle Length, and tweak your settings according to your preferences.
Speaking of celestial objects, if your vampire has yet to unlock the Sun Resistance perk, you need to protect them from the Sun’s rays. Spending too much time outside during the day can be deadly.
