FIFA may sometimes pop up a strange alert that say your opponent has left the match. These alerts usually appear on the screen when you’re playing friendlies. Let’s talk about what they mean and what you can do about them.
How do you fix “Your opponent has left the match” in FIFA?
Log out of your account
Try resetting your connection to EA’s servers by logging out of your FIFA account. Then restart your computer or console. Wait until your device boots up completely, log back in and check if you’re still getting the same error.
Make sure your connection is stable
Make sure your Internet connection is stable and you’re not experiencing any bandwidth issues. If your connection is unstable, you may get disconnected from FIFA which will make the game think you actually left the match on purpose.
Restart your router, use a cable connection, and disconnect all the other devices using the network to free up more bandwidth for FIFA.
Check NAT settings
Make sure your NAT settings aren’t blocking the connection to FIFA’s servers. Set the NAT Type to open. Ensure you have the correct ports open for FIFA.
Use NAT Type 1 or 2. NAT Type 3 heavily restricts your connection.

Disable IPv6
If you’re playing FIFA on a Windows PC, try disabling IPv6 and check if you notice any improvements.
- Exit FIFA and close your game client
- Then navigate to Windows Settings
- Select Network and Internet
- Click on Wi-Fi (left-hand pane)
- Scroll down to Change adapter options
- Right click on your network connection, and select Properties
- Scroll down to Internet Protocol version 6.
- Untick the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TPC/IPv6) checkbox
- Apply the changes, restart your computer and launch FIFA again.
Set APN to Unrestricted and enable IPv4 on mobile hotspots
If you’re using a mobile hotspot, change the APN name settings to Unrestricted, and set the Internet Protocol to IPV4 Only.
Many FIFA players confirmed this quick solution worked for them.
Was this a rage quitting episode?
If FIFA says that “Your opponent has left the match”, this may also indicate the other player rage quitted. Some players tend to quit the game when they see they’re losing. However, that might be a tough question to ask, especially when you’re playing with friends.
