What happens if you don’t pay the bills in Sims 4?

What-happens-if-you-dont-pay-Sims-4-bills

Sims 4 bills have skyrocketed, especially after EA released the Seasons expansion. As a quick reminder, bills are calculated based on your house value when empty, plus all the items you own in your inventory.

The more items you purchase, the higher your bills.

If you don’t have enough money and can’t pay the bills, you’re in trouble. Let’s explore what happens if your bills remain unpaid in Sims 4.

What happens if bills aren’t paid in Sims 4?

After bills have been delivered but remain unpaid, they change color. First, they go from white to yellow, then to orange, and finally to red. Red means that you need to pay your bills urgently.

It takes about two days for the color of your bills to change.

Step 1: Electricity will be cut off within 48 hours

If you fail to pay your bills within 48 hours, electricity will be cut off. This means that you won’t be able to use any electrical appliances, and electronics until you’ve paid the bills. Food will go bad in the fridge and Sims won’t be able to cook.

Step 2: The water supply will be cut off after 96 hours

If you fail to pay your bills within 96 hours, your household water supply will also be cut off. This means that Sims can’t take baths, or flush the toilet.

The filthy surroundings moodlet may also pop up.

The main problem is that the disconnection of utilities also affects retail and restaurant lots owned by the household.

Step 3: Repo-man repossesses valuable items

If your bills remain unpaid 48 hours after shutting off water supplies, the repo-man will pay you a quick visit. They will come to your house and repossess your furniture and other items of value.

Sims can fight the repo-man

When your Sims notice that the repo-man is about to take a valuable object, they can ask them to spare the respective object. The repo-man may decide to move to another object for repossession.

Sims can also try to appeal to humanity, bribe, or even fight the repo-man. If your Sims’ strategy is successful, the repo-man will leave the household without repossessing any object.

Next step: Live off-the-grid

If your Sims don’t want to or can’t pay the bills, try living off-the-grid.

For example, if you have Outdoor Retreat installed, you can use the camping shower. If you own Get Together installed, you can use the toilet bush.

Rest assured, grills still work even if you stop paying your bills. Your Sims can simply live on grilled meals.

⇒ Quick Note:

If your Sims live in an apartment and fail to pay the bills, the landlord will refuse to take care of any apartment-related problems.
