The Sims 4: How to write songs faster

Writing songs in The Sims 4 takes a lot of patience and excellent musical skills. Your Sim needs a lot of time to level up its songwriting skills and the ability to play particular instruments.

Once you’ve enrolled your Sim into the music business, don’t expect to see any fast progress. Your Sim needs to first put in the work to master the instrument of their choice.

On this page, we’ll explore:

  • What skills your Sims need to have to start writing songs
  • How long the entire process takes
  • How to write songs faster
  • How to make money off writing songs

Let’s dive in.

How do I write songs faster in The Sims 4?

If you want your Sim to write songs faster, level up their instrument skill by having them practice in public. Being able to play multiple instruments can help them write songs faster and earn more money.

Practice in public

Your Sim can practice playing their favorite instrument in public so as to gain additional music mastery levels and get tips. The more they play, the faster their level up their instrument skill.

Music and being able to play an instrument is one of the highest-paying hobbies in The Sims 4.

Learn to play additional instruments

Being able to play multiple instruments will give your Sim a boost in skill gains. Another advantage is that it allows your Sim to license one song per instrument daily — almost.

The best strategy is to master one instrument at a time, and then move to the next.

Use Mods to write songs faster

There are a few mods out there for faster songwriting. With the help of some of these mods, it takes roughly 2 or 3 Sim hours to complete a song, which is 4 times faster than usual.

Write Songs and Books Faster is one of the best mods to use for this task. You can get this mod from ModTheSims.

⇒ Quick Tip:

Sims can study Music at university and get a Distinguished Degree in Fine Art that allows them to follow the Musician Branch of the Entertainer Career.

How to make money off writing songs in Sims 4

Play in public and get tips

One way to monetize your  Sim’s musical talent is to play in public. Don’t expect to earn too much money this way. The tips you’ll get can help you pay some of the bills.

License music

Once your Sim has reached level 9, they can license music to make more money. Again, this process takes a lot of time so don’t expect your Sim to get rich overnight.

Keep in mind there are two main limitations when it comes to licensing music:

  • You can only license one song at a time
  • The song will no longer be that popular after one week

What level do you have to be to write songs in Sims 4?

Your Sim needs to first reach level 8 of mastery in the instrument they chose to specialize in to unlock the ability to write songs. Once the song has been fully written, you can play it using any instrument your Sim can play.

How long does it take for my Sim to fully write a song?

On average, it takes about 12 hours for your Sim to finish writing a song. If your Sim stops writing a particular song abruptly, the progress will be saved on a musical sheet available in your Sim’s inventory.

You can resume writing the song by grabbing the musical sheet from the inventory.

As you can see, writing songs is one of the most time-consuming actions in the game. Use the tips and tricks listed in this guide to help your Sim write songs faster.

I hope you find this guide useful.

Happy Simming!
