Talking to plants allows your Sims to level up their Gardening skill and fulfills their need for social interactions. However, this interaction does not raise the quality of your plants. Talking to plants won’t help you evolve them faster.
If you want to improve the quality of your plants and crops, use fertilizers to get the job done.
Sims that have the Freelance Botanist aspiration will often go and talk to plants without you prompting them to do so.
The same is valid if your Sim has the “Loves the Outdoors” trait.
If you have Autonomy enabled, talking to plants will be their default action when there are no other interactions listed in their action queue.
What should I do if my Sim can’t talk to plants?
The option to talk to plants is available once your Sim has reached Level 4 of the Gardening skill.
If your Sim can’t talk to plants, this usually indicates their Gardening skill is not high enough.
Have them do additional interactions that involve plants, wait until they unlock Level 4 of the Gardening skill and the option to talk to plants will become available.
