The Sims 4 High School Years expansion pack has brought a new trait to the game: Socially Awkward. This trait is relatable to a lot of people, including a lot of teenagers.
What does the Socially Awkward trait do in The Sims 4?
Sims with the Socially Awkward trait tend to struggle in social situations and build Charisma more slowly. They gain powerful Moodlets and Sentiments when they are able to overcome their awkwardness and accompanying nervousness to form close friendships.
Socially awkward Sims will have trouble in all things social. They also tend to spend a lot of time on their own. That is until they find the right Sims to hang out with.
While socially awkward Sims may have a more challenging time interacting with others and forming friendships, there’s also a positive side to this trait. They form stronger, lost-lasting friendships.
Finding Sims you feel comfortable hanging out with
When playing with a socially awkward Sim, the key is finding a group of people that your Sim is comfortable with. This will help them come out of their shell.
Being socially awkward doesn’t mean your Sim is anti-social. It just means they need more time to find good friends. This is mainly because they’re uncomfortable around new people.
However, they’ll be comfortable and very friendly around close friends. It’s all about feeling good and comfortable in the company of your friends.
Expect socially awkward Sims to have poor results when socializing with new people. They won’t be the first to laugh at the jokes that other Sims tell.
The Sims 4: Confess to being socially awkward
Once your Sim discovers a fellow Sim with whom they feel at ease, they have the opportunity to open up about their social awkwardness. This confession not only fosters a sense of comfort but also contributes to self-acceptance, allowing your Sim to embrace their inherent traits.
Trait conflicts
The Socially Awkward trait is not the right trait to have for Sims with the Admire Icon or Drama Llama teen aspirations. Both require using a lot of social interactions to complete all the required milestones.
