Sims can learn new skills by reading specialized books. For example, one way to level up Charisma fast is by reading the three books in the Charisma series.
But you can only do that at home. Most public libraries don’t have skill-building books.
Sims should be able to read all kinds of books at the library
Skill-building books are not available at all the library lots in Sims 4. If you want your Sims to read skill-building books, click on the bookshelf from home and select Buy. Navigate to the Skill section, and select the book you want to buy.
The only library that has skill-building books in Sims 4 is the one from Willow Creek. Go to the bookshelves on the upper floor to read skill-building books. Keep in mind that the library only has Level 1 skill-building books.
If you want your Sim to read Level 2 or Level 3 books, you’ll need to click on the home bookshelf and buy the respective books.
The libraries in Sims 4 leave a lot to be desired. Bookshelves are never fully stocked. For example, many Sims 4 players who have University installed only go to the library to trigger the study spot buff.
Others go to the University library simply because that’s where the organizations meet.
Make a donation to the University Library
One quick workaround to improve the book offer at the University Library is to have one of your Sims buy all the study and skill books available and leave them in the Commons bookcase.
How Maxis can improve libraries in The Sims 4
- The books your Sims have published should be available at the library.
- Oher Sims should be able to purchase the books written by fellow Sims. That would be an excellent way to connect Sims that share common interests.
- Add a search bar that you can use to quickly find the books you’re interested in.
- Add vampire encyclopedias to libraries. As a quick reminder, reading vampire encyclopedias helps you level up your Vampire Lore skill.
