The Sims 4: Here’s How Horse Breeding Works

Simmers have been begging EA to add horses to the game for years. Our dream has finally come true with the Horse Ranch expansion pack.

Not only can you play with horses, and move around Chestnut Ridge on horseback, but you can also breed them.

How Do I Breed Horses in The Sims 4?

To breed horses in The Sims 4, click on your horse, go to the Social Menu and select Encourage to Breed With.

If the mating was successful, you’ll get a notification that the mare is pregnant.

Amare stays pregnant for approximately 2 Sim days on normal lifespan settings.

Short and sweet, right?

You can’t ride your mare while pregnant. You can’t enter any competition either.

By breeding horses, you have the chance to unlock special traits for their foals.

This adds an element of surprise and excitement, making each new foal a potential treasure with unique abilities.

That’s right, players can have their Horses nuzzle under the stars to make the perfect little Foal, a combination of both of its parents…and they may even unlock a unique Trait. The joy of breeding and raising Foals on your Sim’s ranch is one you won’t want to miss.

Some horses are mellow, others are brave, while others are downright defiant.

Foals will acquire traits from both parents but you can also train them to unlock new traits.

They typically inherit either one parent’s coat pattern or the other, rather than a mix-and-match of both patterns.

That’s how horse genetics works in the game.

Before attempting to breed horses, allow them to spend time together so they become familiar with each other.

If a stallion and a mare share a strong bond, this increases the chances of successful breeding.

By the way, to get the horse in the mood for mating, you gotta be friends with them first!

You Can Become a Horsebreeder

You can sell your horses’ offspring and become a horse breeder.

As your horses become more well-trained and possess desirable traits, you can sell them at higher prices, generating a steady income for your Sim.

Breeding horses adds a unique and realistic element to your Sims 4 experience.

It allows you to create and nurture a lineage of horses, each with its distinct personality and traits.

You can turn horse breeding into a very profitable business.

If you want to make even more money, you can also sell Nectar.

Conclusion

For players who love horses, being a horse breeder in the game provides an opportunity to connect with these majestic animals virtually.

It allows you to nurture and care for your horses, building a strong bond with each one.

Happy Simming!
