Chickens won’t eat treats in The Sims 4 Cottage Living? Do this

If you’re playing The Sims 4 Cottage Living, you can use various treats to turn your chickens into super-chickens.

For example, you can feed your chickens Golden Treats and turn them into Golden Chickens. They can then bless your crops helping them to grow faster.

If you feed them Midnight Treats, they’ll turn into Evil Chickens. By the way, Evil Hens will lay Obsidian eggs, and they’ll keep the Grim Reaper away.

Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Well, the only problem is that many gamers complained chickens won’t eat the treats. This can be really frustrating.

You invest time and resources into getting the necessary ingredients to prepare these special treats, and then your chickens won’t even look at them.

I have given my chickens treats both when they are hungry and when they are not. Sometimes they refuse to eat it. You cannot call them to eat it, so you end up just having to sell or trash it. It is a waste of resources to make the treats if you cannot get the chickens to eat them.

Let’s discuss what you can do about this problem.

What to do if chickens won’t eat treats in The Sims 4 Cottage Living

Socialize with your chickens first

Socializing with your chickens first helps you convince them to eat the treats you’re giving them. Use a couple of friendly interactions, then give them the treat and leave them alone for a while. They should start eating the treats.

Don’t lose your patience and temper, and don’t use negative interactions. Otherwise, your chickens might attack and kill you.

Feed your chickens when they are hungry

Some players suggested that you should wait until your chickens are hungry before feeding them the treats that you prepared for them. They should quickly jump on the treats.

However, other users said this method doesn’t always yield positive results. Give it a shot and check if it works for you.

Ensure there are no other interactions queued up after the feed

Once you’ve scattered the treats, don’t do anything else. Don’t engage in other actions, otherwise, the chickens might stop eating the treats. Most importantly, don’t start scattering regular feed as well.

Give them no other option but to eat the treats you just scattered.

As one player explains:

I did notice the chicken is more likely to ignore the treat if you have other interactions queued up after the feed treat interaction. Its not guaranteed but I’ve found if you want to increase the odds of the chicken accepting it make the feed treat the only interaction in the queue.

Additionally, make sure that your chickens can’t go anywhere else. Build a fence around the coop and lock the gate behind you when you start scattering treats.

Equally important, don’t feed them any treats in the evening. Your chickens will prefer to go inside the coop and get some sleep instead of trying out your treats.

Make multiple treats

Other players suggested that preparing multiple treats could be the solution for this unusual behavior. So, if you have enough resources, prepare multiple treats for your chickens.

Then, give a treat to two or three chickens and wait until the game pops up the message that says the treat has been eaten and the next egg will be special.

Conclusion

If your chickens won’t eat treats in Sims 4 Cottage Living, make sure to socialize with your chickens first before feeding them. Additionally, feed your chickens when they are hungry. Also, make sure there are no other interactions queued up after the feed.
