The Sims 4: Cooking options are greyed out [FIX]

The-Sims-4-cooking-options-greyed-out

If your Sim can’t cook anything because all the cooking options are greyed out, this is because of the Simple Living lot trait. Simple Living requires you to have the ingredients to cook.

If you don’t have them, you can’t cook anything irrespective of your Sim’s Cooking skill level.

You can’t have quick meals either.

To disable the Simple Living lot trait, go to Build Mode, click on the House icon, and select the trophy icon. Click on the Simple Living lot trait to disable it.

Cordelia’s Cottage has the Simple Living challenge enabled by default. You won’t be able to cook unless you get all the necessary ingredients or disable the Simple Living lot trait.

Simple Living is like living in the countryside. You need to grow your own fruit and vegetables, get eggs from your hens, milk from your cow, and so on.

If you want to keep this lot trait and cook at home, you need to grow all the ingredients or buy them. You can order groceries online or buy them from the market.

This makes things a bit more challenging but also realistic.

If you think this lot trait is too annoying and limiting, you can always go into Build Buy and remove it under lot traits.

By the way, if your Sim is hungry but refuses to cook anything, check if something’s blocking their access to the stove or fridge. Additionally, you can replace the problematic stove or fridge.
