The Sims 4 Growing Together expansion pack adds a new burnout system that will indicate when your Sim needs a break.
After doing the same thing over and over again, that’s bound to happen.
If you’re going too hard building a specific skill or spend too much time working or pursuing a particular hobby, your Sim will let you know when that’s too much.
For example, if they’re doing something that requires a lot of focus and mental activity, they may want to take a break and do some form of physical activity.
If they’re doing something creative such as painting around the clock, your Sim will become Dazed and get the Creative Fog buff.
They’ll start feeling woozy as their creative muscle are stretched thin. They should definitely take a break before it gets worse.
Don’t ignore the burnout signs
The best way to fix burnout in The Sims 4 is to stop the grind, take a break and relax when the first signs of burnout appear. It’s easier to prevent burnout than to recover from it.
If you ignore the pre-burnout alerts and keep doing the same thing, a full-blown burnout episode will follow.
Burnout negatively impacts work performance, promotions, energy, fun, and skill gain.
It’s hard to be productive when you’re burned out. It’s almost impossible to succeed until that burnout episode ends.
To speed up the recovery, your Sim needs to take a break and relax.
If they stay burned out for too long, their condition may get worse. They’ll get a full-on Brain Block.
The burnout system makes the game more challenging
I’m not sure I like the burnout system in The Sims 4. Whenever I wanted to max out a specific skill fast, I would have my Sim do that thing all day long.
For example, I would have them paint for hours on end to level up their Painting skill and create masterpieces. Or I would have them exercise around the clock to increase their Fitness level and reach their max body potential faster.
But I won’t be able to use the same strategy without paying the price.
I think that burnout episodes make challenges such as the Rags to Riches challenge even more challenging than they already are.
