The Hysterical moodlet will disappear if they take the hat off.

Add up Happy moodlets
You can make your Sims Hysterical by first getting them into a Playful and Very Playful mood. To do that, have them take a bubble bath, watch comedy and tell jokes to other Sims.
Additionally, make sure to nicely decorate your house so that your Sims get the Happy +2 moodlet from living in a beautifully decorated place.
The combo between the Playful buff and the Happy buffs triggered by watching comedy, telling jokes, and living in a beautifully decorated house will make your Sim Hysterical in no time.
Long story short, the idea is to add a bunch of Happy moodlets to stack onto the Playful and Very Playful buffs.
Stream viral videos using a drone
If you have Get Famous installed, your Sim can become Hysterical by streaming viral videos on social media using a drone. If the video gets viral while your Sim is streaming, they’ll instantly get the Hysterical buff.
This is because the drone gives you Happy +10 buff.
Get your Sims to marry their partner
Sims will experience some really powerful emotions on their wedding day and a few days after. Use this opportunity to get them to become Hysterical and hold them at Hysterical as long as you can.
It’s not uncommon for the groom or bride to die from too much laughter during the wedding ceremony.

Pregnant Sims can get Hysterical but won’t die. This is because pregnant Sims cannot die. They’re immortal as long as they’re pregnant.
