Elden Ring features a huge map that’s all yours to explore. Simply follow the yellow arrows pointing to the direction you need to go. There are also large bodies of water and islands in The Lands Between. But the question is: can you safely swim in those waters? Let’s find out!
Can I swim in Elden Ring?
You cannot swim in Elden Ring. You die if you step into deep water. It doesn’t matter if it’s a pond or lake, you’ll drown instantly. But you can safely walk through knee-deep or waist-deep water. However, if you sense that water gets deeper than that, you should immediately go back.
There are plenty of items that you can use to enhance your character’s abilities and skills in Elden Ring. Unfortunately, none of them can grant your character the ability to swim. There are no floating devices either.
You’d expect to be able to swim
If you think about it, Elden Ring characters can achieve a lot of amazing feats. For example, they can kill demigods, wield amazing Strength-based weapons, cast powerful spells, and so on. But, surprisingly, they can’t swim. They’ll sink like a stone in deep water.
But, hey, being able to swim would probably open the door to nasty aquatic bosses. Image taking on a Water Dragon or an angry school of fish. Would you like that?
Moreover, being able to swim wouldn’t really match the fantasy world of Elden Ring.
