The Sims 4: Do This if Your Sim Doesn’t Like Decorations

The Poorly Decorated moodlet may sometimes pop up on the screen when you’re playing The Sims 4 without an apparent reason.

Let’s explore what makes your Sims hate the decor and what you can do about it.

Why Do My Sims Hate the Decor?

Some Sims are more sensitive to the environment and will get the Poorly Decorated moodlet if they don’t like the layout and design of their house.

Bare walls and not having any decorative items will often trigger the Poorly Decorated buff.

At the same time, certain interior design items, including wall paint and decorative items can make Sims uncomfortable and trigger the Poorly Decorated moodlet.

How to Get Rid of the Poorly Decorated Moodlet

The Poorly Decorated moodlet suggests that “something about the wallpaper or floor seems to be off”.

If you’re sick of your Sims being uncomfortable because their house is poorly decorated, change the interior design style. Your wallpaper and flooring are probably the culprits.

Paint all your walls, and cover your floors. Drywall and concrete can cause a bad mood.

Remove existing wall art and rugs, and check if you notice any changes.

You can tweak your gameplay settings so that your Sims don’t react to the environment items anymore and feel uncomfortable from poor interior design aesthetics.

Navigate to Game Options, select Gameplay, and untick the option that reads Build mode items grant gameplay effects.

Well, if your Sims don’t like the house they live in, you can punish them by doing the Rags to Riches challenge.

Have them live on the streets. That should teach them to appreciate the effort you put into decorating their house.

⇒ Long Story Short

To get rid of the Poorly Decorated moodlet in The Sims 4, paint all your walls, cover your floors, and add some decorative items.

Happy Simming!
