After spending so many hours fishing in The Sims 4, you’ll end up with a really nice collection of fish.
But there’s a catch.
Fish will spoil after 24 hours if you keep them in your inventory.
If you want to prevent that from happening, here’s what you can do with the fish you caught in the game.
What can I do with the fish my Sim catches in The Sims 4?
There are five main things you can do with the fish that your Sim catches in The Sims 4: sell them for extra Simoleons, mount them on walls as decoration, put them in an aquarium, cook delicious fish-based dishes, or use them as fertilizer or bait.
Sell your fish for extra Simoleons
You can see the fish that your Sim caught and earn some extra Simoleons. If your Sim doesn’t have a high-paying job, that’s an excellent side hustle to earn some extra money.
How much money your Sim gets for the fish they caught depends on its quality and scarcity. High-quality rare fish can bring in lots of Simoleons.
Mount fish on walls
You can also mount fish on walls as decoration. They’ll give your Sim a Confident aura that will boost their skill gain rate.
To use this option, go to your inventory, select the fish you want to mount and click on the Mount option. The fish will get placed on a wooden plaque and then mounted on your wall.
Put fish in an aquarium
Another way to use fish as decoration in The Sims 4 Sims is to put them in fish bowls and aquariums. You can name your pet fish and watch them as they swim around in the aquarium. However, you can’t feed them.
Large aquariums can hold up to six fish.
Cook delicious fish dishes
If you’re planning to cook the fish that your Sim caught while fishing, put them in the fridge to prolong their freshness. Simply drag them over from your inventory, and you’ll have fresh ingredients when cooking fish dishes.
If you can’t put fish in the fridge, this usually means your fish fillets have already gone bad.
Once your Sim has reached Level 3 of the Cooking skill, they can cook fish dishes using the fish available in their inventory.
Keep in mind fish can only be refrigerated if it’s fresh. Foul fish won’t go in the fridge.
Fish spoils pretty rapidly in the fridge. Make sure to cook it as soon as your Sim gets home from fishing. Raw fish doesn’t last very long in the refrigerator.
If you own Outdoor Retreat you can grill fish on the campfire.
After 24 hours, fish quality and freshness will decline. Avoid cooking poor and foul-quality fish to prevent your Sim from getting nauseous or sick.
By the way, vegetarian Sims won’t like fish dishes.
Use fish as fertilizer
The best type of fertilizers to use in The Sims 4 is fish. If you want to grow Excellent-quality plants, you need to use fish as fertilizers in gardening. Even poor quality or foul fish work great as fertilizers allowing you to evolve your plants faster.
Use fish as bait
If your main goal is to complete your Fish collection, you can use common fish as bait for rare types of fish. In other words, use smaller fish to catch bigger fish.
What can you do with foul fish in The Sims 4?
You can use foul or spoiled fish as fertilizer or bait in The Sims 4. Sims with a high Cooking skill level can successfully cook high-quality dishes using foul fish. You can also sell it to earn some extra money.
