The Sims 4: What happens if a child’s parents die?

The-Sims-4-What-happens-if-a-childs-parents-die

Tragic events such as accidental deaths may sometimes occur in The Sims 4. When one of your Sims hits the bucket, the Grim Reaper will show up on your lot. He’ll accompany your dead Sim to the other realm.

But what happens to a child if both parents die? Can you bring someone new into the household to take care of the child?

Let’s find out!

What happens to a child when both parents die in The Sims 4?

If both parents die in The Sims 4, the child is taken away by Social Services and the game ends. With no adult left on the lot, children are automatically taken by Social Services. They’re forever gone.

If you want to keep playing with the same household, you can age up the child before their parents die. In this manner, you can continue playing as a teen.

Teens can live alone. Teen-only households are fully supported.

If the parents die unexpectedly before you age up the child, you may want to roll back to a previous save and check if the kid is in that older version.

Load a game version prior to the parents dying, age the kid up and they should be fine.

Alternatively, you can try finding the kid with cheats. Use the sims.get_sim_id_by_name First Name Last Name to check if they’re still there somewhere.

Teens can live alone in The Sims 4. If both parents die, teens will remain in the household and you can keep playing with them. They’ll also take ownership of the house, and inherit the money their parents had.

Teens count as soon-to-be-young-adults and can manage the household and any children living there.

Happy Simming!
