Pets can be really stubborn in The Sims 4. They have a will of their own and your Sim needs to clearly and firmly discourage unwanted behaviors.
These may include but are not limited to playing in puddles and getting dirty, drinking from puddles, eating human food, waking up Sims, or walking on counters.
How can I train out pet misbehaviors in The Sims 4?
The best way to train out pet misbehavior in The Sims 4 is to lecture your pets right after they misbehaved. Correct those unwanted behaviors on the spot. Click on your pet, select the Friendly social category and click on the Lecture option.
There are different kinds of pet misbehavior in The Sims 4.
You can lecture your cats about jumping on counters, knocking out the trash, begging for food, or scratching furniture.
You can lecture your dogs about eating human food, playing in puddles, drinking from puddles, knocking over trash, peeing inside, waking Sims up, barking, begging for food, drinking water from the toilet, and so on.
Cats behave better than dogs
Dogs are a lot more work than cats. They can perform a long list of unwanted behaviors. This is why your Sim needs to constantly keep an eye on their dogs and correct misbehaviors as soon as they occur.
For example, if you drag a plate on the floor, your dog will quickly start licking it. You can use this opportunity to teach them not to eat human food.
If something breaks down, and your Sim repairs it, you can leave the trash on the floor and teach your dog not to play in the trash.
If you leave some puddles unmopped, your dog will play in them. Use this opportunity to teach them not to play in puddles.
Be gentle when training out misbehaviors
As a quick reminder, the Friend of the Animals Aspiration requires you to train out two pet misbehaviors.
Don’t be afraid to lecture your pets to correct misbehaviors. However, you should always be gentle when scolding your pets.
If your Sim is very angry and uses the Lecture option multiple times in a row, pets may run away.
The good news is that they should return home after two or three days.
Some pets won’t misbehave
Cats that have the Clever trait and dogs with the Smart trait will rarely misbehave. Simply put, they won’t do most of the misbehaviors.
This can be a problem. Completing the Friend of the Animals Aspiration requires your Sim to train out two pet misbehaviors.
To ensure your pets misbehave, you can create or adopt a cat or dog that has the Mischief trait.
