Gaining your voters’ trust is crucial for building a successful political career in The Sims 4.
If you fail to do that, you’ll receive a negative response when making empty promises, especially if your Sim has low-level Mischief skills.

If your Sim is a dishonest politician, you can ask for a bribe after leveling up their Charisma skill. The option to Ask for a Large Bribe shows up when your Sim’s Charisma skill is high enough.
