The first thing to do if you want to start knitting is to purchase a Yarn Basket from the Build/Buy catalog.

The design of the Yarn Basket is similar to that of a school bag with a large front pocket and several smaller side pockets. They’re all very colorful. But you can also get the simple black and white variant if you prefer a minimalist basket.

But that’s not all. There’s one more knitting basket design in the pipeline and it’s coming soon.

Earn access to new patterns

If you want your Sim to gain access to new knitting patterns, make sure they level up their knitting skills. Socks and beanies are the starting point. As your Sims become more skilled at knitting, they can start knitting sweaters and toys.

And speaking of skills, if you tackle too complicated a project for your Sim’s skills, the knitting project may fail.

Teach to Knit

As your Sims level up their knitting skills, they’ll also unlock the ability to Teach to Knit. This means they can teach other Sims how to knit and get them infected with the knitting bug.

What to do with the knitted clothes

Sims can list knitted objects on Plopsy or Donate them to charity. Or they can try gifting a knitted object to other Sims. Or they can add the knitted clothes to the Wardrobe and make the items available in Create-A-Sim to all family members.

Master the Knitting Aspiration

Some Sims are born to knit. That’s why there’s a Knitting Aspiration in the game. No knitting pattern is too complicated for a Sim with the Knitting Aspiration. Sims that master the Aspiration will get the Sacred Knitting Knowledge trait which unlocks new knitting abilities.
