The Sims 4: How to Get Better Grades in School

If you want your Sim to be at the top of their class, there are a few things you can do to help them succeed. Sims who earn good grades in high school have a better chance of getting accepted into university.

How Do I Get Good Grades In The Sims 4?

To get good grades, have your Sim attend school every day while in a positive mood, pay attention in class, and complete their homework. Ideally, they should go to school while Focused.

When doing homework, click the Extra Credit option. This option is only available to Grade B and Grade A students.

Grade A students start high school as Grade B students when they age up into teenagers. If they graduate with an A, they’ll start their career at a higher level after aging up into young adults.

How Can My Sim Become a Grade A Student?

Do this to become a Grade A student in The Sims 4:

  • Go to school Focused
  • Interact with the pop-ups that show up while in class to unlock performance boosts
  • Have your Sims study hard to improve their school performance
  • Have them do their homework as soon as they get home
  • After finishing homework, click on Do Extra Credit Work for extra performance gain
  • Complete school projects as soon as they’ve been assigned
  • Get one skill to Level 4 from the get-go, even if the game says you only need to reach Level 2

Have a teen or adult help children do their homework if you notice they’re struggling or have trouble focusing.

If you have City Living installed, you can use the Good Schools lot trait to unlock extra school performance gain.

Grade C Students Can Become Grade A Students

Every Sim starts as a Grade C student. To become a Grade B student, they need to reach Level 2 in any skill they want to develop.

To become an A student, your Sim needs to reach Level 4 in one skill. To maintain an A grade, they need to attend class every day and continue doing their homework.

Reaching Level 4 in a skill gives your teenage Sim a head start on building adult skills, which will come in handy later in their career.

Why Is My Sim Getting Bad Grades in The Sims 4?

If your Sim is still a Grade C student, check the School tab. The panel will show what’s preventing them from improving. It’s usually low performance or unfinished requirements and tasks.

Students can sometimes leave their homework behind. If they don’t have it with them when the teacher asks to see it, they’ll receive lower grades. Always check your Sim’s inventory before sending them to school.

Level up Logic and Go to School Focused

What I like to do when playing with high school students is focus on improving my Sim’s Logic skill.

One way to do this is to have them use the pocket-size telescope to observe the sky before heading to school. After observing for a few minutes, they’ll also receive a Focused moodlet.

This strategy lets you kill two birds with one stone.

You can also have them drink a cup of black tea for breakfast to give them a strong, long-lasting Focused moodlet.

Complete School Projects (Parenthood)

If you own the Parenthood Game Pack, having your Sim complete school projects is one of the fastest ways to improve their performance.

School projects can be purchased in Build/Buy mode, so you can have your Sims work on one whenever you want.

Hack School Grades

Teen Sims with Level 4 Programming can hack their school grades using a computer, giving them an instant academic boost.

If your Sim is going to University, you’ll need a slightly different strategy to get A grades.
