The fable system is a surprisingly fun feature in The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature. It’s a bit like Cottage Living errands, but way more magical and playful.
Sims can use the Fable Board to discover Fabulists—NPCs who hand out mini quests. Some tasks are simple, such as delivering items. Others are more involved, like solving riddles or exploring new areas.
There are six Fabulists in Innisgreen:
- Spruce Almighty
- Todd Attenberry
- Gen Nhoam
- Zhaleh Amani
- Joe Trader
- Care Ren
There are 10 magical Fables to complete. Some Fabulists have more than one tale to tell, so be sure to uncover every story they have to offer.
Rewards for finishing a Fable vary. Some give small items or Simoleons. Others might boost a Sim’s skills, like Natural Living or Foraging.

- If you use Neighborhood Stories and a fabulist asks to change their job, don’t click Yes.
Doing that will replace that NPC in the game, which can cause annoying issues.
How to Solve Spruce Almighty’s Mushroom Quest
One interesting task involves speaking with Spruce Almighty, and it can become quite dramatic. There’re always going on about wanting to get back with Mother Nature, all while flirting with your Sim.
Their fables are quite intricate, and solving them requires thinking outside the box.
Solving Spruce’s Mushroom Quest is not an easy task, but I guarantee you’ll be proud of yourself once you’ve finished it.
To unlock Spruce’s “Not Mushroom For Error “Fable, follow these steps:
- Go to the Sprucederry Grove neighborhood.
- Find the Glaswood Tree and use it to summn Spruce Almighty.
- Once he appears, choose Acquire a Fable” when speaking to him.
- Select Not Mushroom For Error”to add the Fable to your journal.
To complete this Fable, solve all four mushroom riddles:
🔵 Blue Mushroom’s Riddle
🔴 Red Mushroom’s Riddle
🟢 Green Mushroom’s Riddle
🟡 Yellow Mushroom’s Riddle
🔵 Solve the Blue Mushroom’s Riddle
First, you need to find the Blue Mushroom, which is located near the Glaswood Tree. Click on it and select Solve My Riddle.
You’ll be given two answer choices. The correct answer is: Bioluminescent Mushroom.
However, you won’t be able to select that option unless your Sim has at least one Lightning Root Leaf in their inventory.
🔴 Solve the Red Mushroom’s Riddle
To tackle the Red Mushroom’s Riddle, look across the path, right opposite the Glaswood Tree —you’ll spot the Red Mushroom. Click on it and select Solve My Riddle.
You’ll be given a new riddle. The right answer is Amanita Muscaria.
🟢 Solve the Green Mushroom’s Riddle
After cracking the Red Mushroom’s riddle, it’s time to take on the Green Mushroom. You’ll find it tucked just behind the Red Mushroom, near the Glaswood Tree.
You’ll be given a new brain teaser to ponder. When it’s time to choose an answer, go with “A Truffle”.
🟡 Solve the Yellow Mushroom’s Riddle
To find the Yellow Mushroom, head behind the stone wall located near the Glaswood Tree. The correct answer to this riddle is A Fairy Ring.
However, this option won’t be selectable unless you’ve met one of these conditions:
- Unlock the “Enchanted By Nature” Notebook Entry (you can do that by foraging)
- Become a Fairy yourself
Now that you’ve solved all four Mushroom Riddles, you’ll receive these two rewards:
- Glaswood Tree – A magical new addition to your garden
- Everdew Seeds – Perfect for growing something truly enchanted
As you can see, fables are meant to encourage more exploration and storytelling. They bring more life to Innisgreen and give Sims fun reasons to interact with the world around them.
