If your dog won’t go potty in The Sims 4, and you’re living in an apartment, have your Sim take the dog outside to do their business. Make sure to take your pet for a walk regularly if you’re living in an apartment.
After all, that is what you would do in real life.
The problem with apartments is that they aren’t conventional residential lots. As a result, dogs can’t go potty by themselves. Your Sim needs to take them out on a leash.
If you have a small breed dog, your Sim needs to pick them up and take them out.
Alternatively, you can send your Sim to the street, have them call the dog, and then tell them to go potty.
If your Sim is too busy to take their dog outside to pee, you may want to consider moving to a house with a small yard instead.
Having a pet while living in an apartment building is not easy. The worse part is when your pets get sick and start vomiting all over the place.
Potty train your dog
To make your Sim’s life easier, have them potty train their dog. Dogs won’t go potty if you don’t train them first.
Lecture your dog every time they do their business inside instead of outside.
Be gentle, don’t be too harsh on them. If you scold them too harshly, they may get upset and run away.
Once your dog has learned to go potty by themselves, you’ll get a notification confirming their progress.
If you have stairs, keep in mind that puppies need help with those. They can’t climb stairs on their own. Your Sim needs to pick them up and take them outside to do their business.
Adult dogs can go up or down the stairs without any problem.
Make sure to add a pet door that your dog can use to go outside whenever they need to pee or poop. Additionally, ensure there’s at least one patch of grass on your lot.
