If you have The Sims 4: Get Famous installed, chances are you’ve experienced the frustration of celebrity fan reactions. For many players, this is one of the most annoying parts of the expansion pack.
Whenever a celebrity appears in the neighborhood, your Sim may completely forget what they were doing.
For example, if a global superstar walks onto a community lot, nearby Sims and paparazzi may rush over and surround them.
Suddenly, finishing a task, having a conversation, or enjoying a date becomes less important than watching a celebrity.
Restaurants can become especially frustrating. If a famous Sim walks in, the waiter may stop doing their job because they are too busy reacting to the celebrity.
Celebrities can easily disrupt the atmosphere of a lot, interrupt dates, and ruin events with crowds of excited fans and paparazzi. The most frustrating part is that celebrities don’t seem affected by the chaos happening around them.
If you’re tired of watching your Sims drop everything to react to celebrities, there are a few ways to reduce these interruptions.
How to Prevent Celebrity Fan Reactions in The Sims 4
To reduce celebrity fan reactions in The Sims 4, you can remove a celebrity’s public status when they appear in your world. You can also use MC Command Center to send unwanted celebrities away.
Another option is installing a mod that reduces how often famous Sims appear around your neighborhoods.
Remove a Celebrity’s Public Status
One way to stop Sims from reacting to celebrities is to remove the celebrity’s public status.
You can also adjust the fame settings and enable the option called “All Sims Begin Opted Out of Fame.” This keeps regular Sims from automatically entering the spotlight.
However, this is only a temporary solution. The game will continue generating new celebrities, meaning you may need to repeat the process whenever new famous Sims appear.
- Quick Tip
If you’re unhappy with your Sim’s Fame Perks, you can use the Celebrity Cleanse option to reset all of your Sim’s fame perks.
Use MCCC’s “Make Sim Leave” Option
If you use MC Command Center, you can quickly remove unwanted celebrities from a lot.
The “Make Sim Leave” option allows you to send celebrities away when they show up and start causing chaos. Keep an eye out for unwanted celebrity appearances and use this option whenever necessary.
Install the Townie Overhaul Less Fame Mod
If you don’t mind using mods, Townie Overhaul Less Fame can help reduce celebrity appearances.
The mod prevents celebrities from appearing as frequently on neighborhood lots and reduces how often the game generates new famous townies.
However, some Simmers have reported that the mod can cause issues with their saves. In some cases, existing Sims may be assigned roles that were intended for randomly generated townies.
This means the game may force established Sims into roles they were not originally meant to have. If this happens, you may need to manually fix the affected Sims.
The mod may work well for some players, but it’s worth testing carefully before adding it to an important save.
EA Should Add a Way to Control Celebrity Appearances
Celebrities can travel freely between worlds, which means they can show up almost anywhere.
The Sims 4: Werewolves introduced an interesting feature that allows players to prevent werewolves from appearing in other worlds in their werewolf form.
This does not stop werewolves from traveling, but it does limit when they appear as supernatural creatures outside Moonwood Mill.
Many players have suggested that EA add a similar option for other special Sims, including vampires, spellcasters, mermaids, celebrities, and Sims from Strangerville.
A lot trait that prevents certain Sims from appearing would also give players more control over their worlds.
Until then, players who want a quieter experience will have to rely on fame settings, mods, or manually managing celebrity appearances.
