If you don’t repay your loans in The Sims 4, nothing really happens. However, the game tries to incentivize you to repay them by giving you a bump in friendship when you pay back your debt.
If you’re not planning to repay your loans and want to get rid of any consequences, you can simply delete the townies your Sims borrowed money from.
As a quick reminder, your loan isn’t automatically paid back. The option will show up in Friendly interactions when your Sim talks to the townie they got the money from.
You can breathe a sigh of relief. After getting a loan, your household funds won’t be automatically depleted to pay back the loan.
What happens if you don’t pay back student loans in The Sims 4?
If you don’t repay your student loans in The Sims 4, you’ll get a notification that informs you your student loan payments failed. If you ignore the warning and fail to repay your student loan for too long, the Repo Man will pay you a visit.
He’ll grab anything of value from your household. If you refuse to repay your loan, the Repo Man will keep showing up until he’s grabbed enough household items to cover the debt.
You can attempt to bribe the Repo Man and convince him to go away without any more items. There’s a 50 percent chance of failure or success.
Confident Sims with high-enough Charisma skills tend to be more convincing.
As you can see, student loans are not at all fun in The Sims 4.
However, they are not inescapable. Paying back your student loans requires hard work, excellent money management skills, and the ability to delay gratification.
Constantly buying expensive items only makes it so much more difficult to repay your student loans.
Keep that in mind next time your Sim wants to buy shiny objects.
Happy Simming!
