The Sims 4: Why can’t I place doors in the game?

The-Sims-4-cannot-place-doors

If you can’t place doors in The Sims 4, move your Mods folder to your desktop, go to your Origin Library, right-click on The Sims 4, and select Repair Game.

Restart the game and check if the game lets you place your doors where you want them to be.

If the problem persists, pursue the troubleshooting solutions below.

Update your game and mods

If you’re getting the Script Call Failed error when you try to place a door onto a wall, this indicates you’re using out-of-date mods. The Basemental mod often causes this issue.

Make sure to update all of your mods. Update The Sims 4 to the latest version, restart the game, and check if you notice any changes.

Remove wall decorations and paintings

If you’re getting the Can’t intersect with walls alert, remove all the paintings and decorations from that wall. They might be taking up too much space on the wall preventing you from placing a door in the area.

Rebuild the problematic wall

If the issue persists, delete the problematic wall, and save your progress. Exit the game, wait for a few seconds, and then restart it. Enable Build Mode and rebuild the wall.

Enable the MoveObjects cheat

If nothing works, use the bb.moveobjects on cheat and check if you can place your doors where you want them to be. This cheat gives you more leeway when it comes to moving and deleting objects.

As a last resort, you can bulldoze the lot and start all over again.
