The Sims 4: How to prevent alien abductions

The-Sms-4-prevent-alien-abductions

While alien abductions can add an exciting twist to The Sims 4, not everyone wants their Sims to be whisked away by UFOs.

I know that alien abductions can be a real head-scratcher. Not everyone wants their Sims to get caught up in intergalactic adventures.

I’m sure you don’t want your vampire to have yet another glitchy hybrid child.

Let’s explore how you can prevent those pesky alien abductions and keep your Sim’s feet firmly planted on the ground.

How can I prevent aliens from abducting my Sims?

Lock the doors

The simplest and easiest way to prevent alien abductions in The Sims 4 is to lock all doors between 9 PM and 4 AM. By doing so, your Sim won’t be able to go outside and investigate the light.

If you click on the door and select the “Lock for everyone” option, all your Sims will be safe from alien abductions.

Reset your Sim

Resetting your Sim before they are taken can prevent alien abductions.

Enable cheat codes,  Shift-click on your Sim, and select the Reset option from the menu.

This method works even if you can’t cancel out the “Investigate Strange Light” interaction.

But there’s a catch.

You have to reset your Sim before they start rising.

Use a Satellite Dish to prevent abductions

You can prevent aliens from abducting your Sims in The Sims 4 by using a Satellite Dish. Click on your Satellite Dish and select Prevent Abductions. This option will disable alien abductions for the next 24 hours.

Now, let’s explore how to acquire a Satellite Dish to help prevent alien abductions.

I’ll first provide a method that doesn’t involve cheating. Then I’ll explain how you can use cheats if you prefer that approach.

How do I unlock the Satellite Dish in The Sims 4?

To unlock the Satellite Dish in The Sims 4, your Sim needs to reach Level 7 of the Scientist career. Additionally, they’ll 3 Common Metals and 3 Common Crystals.

Once you’ve fulfilled these requirements, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Invention Constructor
  2. Select Invent Device
  3. Click on Satellite Dish

After building the Satellite Dish, drag it into your Sim’s Inventory. You can then place it on your Household Lot.

Click on the Satellite Dish and select Prevent Abductions. Your Sims will be safe from random alien abductions for the next 24 hours.

Remember that after the 24-hour period, you’ll need to use the “Prevent Abductions” option again to keep aliens at bay.

Alternatively, you can use the Debug cheat to get the Satellite Dish.

Press Ctrl, Shift, and C, type in testingcheats on, and hit Enter. Then, type in bb.showhiddenobjects and press Enter.

Go to the Build Mode search bar and type in debug. Click on one of the **DEBUG** options and locate your Satellite Dish.

But what if you don’t want to use the Satellite Dish? Well, there are some alternative methods that you can use.

Don’t investigate that strange light

If you have MCCC, you can cancel the “Investigate strange light” interaction if you don’t want your Sim to be swooshed away.

Unless you use mods, you can’t cancel the abduction once it starts. The targeted Sims will immediately pause their activities and go to investigate the strange light.

Don’t do things that fill the abduction bar

There is a hidden abduction bar in The Sims 4 that determines the likelihood of abduction. Selecting the “Search for the truth” option on the telescope significantly increases this chance.

Having a higher logic skill, using a rocket, having space rocks in the inventory, or doing anything related to aliens can fill the abduction bar.

Interacting with aliens, including those in disguise, increases the chances of getting abducted.

Doctors and scientists often encounter aliens in their professions. That’s why they tend to experience alien abductions more frequently.

Long story short, to avoid being abducted, don’t engage in activities that fill the abduction bar.

Happy Simming!
