The Sims 4 is a fun game to play. Unfortunately, your gaming experience may not always be a smooth one due to unexpected glitches of all sorts. But the good news is that these issues are not that frequent.
For example, your Sim may sometimes get stuck at work.
To clarify, it doesn’t matter where your Sim is or what they’re doing. Their status remains stuck at work.
Let’s see how you can quickly troubleshoot this problem.
What do I do if my Sim is stuck at work in Sims 4?
The fastest way to resolve the problem where your Sim is stuck at work is to use the Leave Work Early option. If this interaction is unavailable, save your progress, restart the game, and try to leave work early again. As a last resort, have your Sim quit their job.
If you need additional solutions, follow the steps below.
Go to Manage Worlds
Many Sims 4 players fixed the issue where their Sims couldn’t leave work by going to Manage Worlds. Wait one minute, go back to the game and check if this simple workaround did the trick for you.
By the way, if the Manage Worlds option is not available, click on Load Save. Then click on the in-game menu and select Manage Worlds.
Change your Sim’s appearance
Some Simmers confirmed that going to the mirror and changing their Sim’s appearance did the trick for them. You can also click on your Sim and select Change Outfit.
Try this solution and check if it works for you.
Leave work early
One of the quickest ways to fix this issue is to use the “Leave Work Early” option. Click on the work icon and then select Leave Work Early. This method should help you exit the work state and go back to normal control.
However, if the leave early option fails to work, save and quit your game. Then start it again and check if you can use “Leave Early” successfully this time around.
Have everyone travel somewhere
You should be able to get your Sim out of the work state by making everyone travel somewhere. The Sim that is stuck at work will appear with everyone else and this should fix the bug.
For example, have your Sims go on vacation or travel to a non-residential lot.
Clear the cache
Clearing the game cache may help you solve this problem. Maybe some of your cache files are interfering with your current Sims 4 gaming session.
Whether you’re playing on PC or Mac, The Sims 4’s game cache is located under Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4.
You need to delete the localthumbscache.package file from the Sims 4 directory.
Then open the Cache folder and delete absolutely all the files ending in the .cache file extension. Keep the cache folder, don’t delete it.
After that, go to the cachestr folder and remove all the files inside the folder but do keep the folder itself.
Next, move your Saves folder to your desktop. Go back to your Sims 4 directory and remove all the files from the Saves folder.
Restart the game and check the results.
Repair your game files
If the problem doesn’t go away, try repairing your game files.
- Launch your Origin game client
- Navigate to your Library
- Right-click on The Sims 4
- Select Repair Game
- Restart The Sims 4
Have your Sim quit their job
As a last resort, have your Sim quit their job. While this may not be the best solution, it’s the only thing that worked when all the other solutions failed to yield positive results.
Alternatively, you can try to reset your Sim using the “resetsim (First name) (Last name)” command. However, this solution may not always work.
