If you’re having a hard time completing the Unalloyed Gold Needle challenge in Elden Ring, you’ve come to the right place. In this quick guide, we’ll show you exactly what you need to do to get your hands on this handy needle.
Where is the Gold Needle in Elden Ring?
The Unalloyed Gold Needle is located in the Swamp of Aeonia in Caelid. The needle is in the possession of the mini-boss O’Neil. You need to defeat O’Neil to get your hands on the needle.
Steps to complete the Golden Needle challenge
- Go to Sage Gowy’s Hut in Caelid.
- Talk to Gowy.
- Accept the challenge to bring him the Unalloyed Golden Needle.
- Head to the Swamp of Aeonia.
- Fight and defeat the mini-boss O’Neil.
- He’ll drop the Unalloyed Gold Needle when he’s dead.
- Get the needle and bring it to Gowy.
After dealing with Commander O’Neil, take that Unalloyed Gold Needle back to Gowry’s Shack. Hand it over to him, and he’ll tell you he needs some time to fix it up. Just kick back at a Site of Grace, and when you swing back, he’ll have that golden needle all patched up.
As a reward, Gowy will tell you the secret of the town of Sellia.
Now, for the next part, you gotta crack the door puzzle in Sellia Town of Sorcery to make your way through the town and up north to where Millicent is chilling at the Church of the Plague.
Hand her that needle, and after you’ve had a nice sit-down at a Site of Grace, she’ll wake up good as new and toss you the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom, giving your Dexterity a solid five-point boost.
How to defeat the mini-boss O’Neil faster
First, take down the mini-bosses and troops that O’Neil will summon to help him in combat. The quickest way to beat him is to throw fire at him. O’Neil’s attacks are powerful, they can deal massive damage. Try to void them as much as possible.
The good news is O’Neil is pretty slow, so make sure to use that to your advantage.
