There’s a lot of dialog in Elden Ring. As a matter of fact, if you don’t exhaust all the dialog lines with all the NPC’s from Ranni’s Tower, you can’t leave the area. When you meet Melina, you can talk to her to learn more about the Elden Ring lore.
But can you change the game’s language settings and have NPCs talk in a different language? Can you change the UI language settings? Let’s find out!
Can you change voiceover and subtitle language in Elden Ring?
You cannot change the voiceover language in Elden Ring. The game doesn’t support this option. The only voiceover language available is English. But you can change the subtitles and UI language settings via Steam.
How to change Elden Ring subtitle and UI language
To change Elden Ring’s language settings on Steam, go to your game library and right-click on Elden Ring. Select Properties, and click on Language. Select the language option you want to use and save the new settings. The game’s subtitles and UI will change to that language.
Region language lock for the Asian version of Elden Ring
There is a region lock on languages for the Asian version of Elden Ring. This means you can’t play the game in English. Instead, the game’s UI is displayed in regional language.
Many players have complained about this issue, and some even received a refund. This is because “the language version listed in parentheses after the title on PlayStation Store for the game “ELDEN RING” does not match the languages implemented in-game“. As Bandai Namco explains, this issue affects both the Standard and Deluxe Edition of Elden Ring, for both PS5 and PS4.
At the time of writing, Bandai Namco and Sony Interactive Entertainment are working to fix this issue.
