When the Beast Eye quivers, this means you’re near a boss that drops Deathroot. This is a rare item that you can trade for more valuable items that are useful for every type of build. You’ll get a notification at the bottom of the screen every time the Beast Eye activates.
Give Deathroot to Gurranq
You can give Deathroot to Gurranq in exchange for more valuable items. As a matter of fact, he gives you the Beast Eye but omits to say what to use it for.
As you can see, you can use the Beast Eye to detect bosses that drop Deathroot.
After defeating the respective bosses, go back to Gurranq and claim your reward.

There is a total of nine Deathroot items to collect in Elden Ring, 4 of them are from Tibia Mariners.
You’ll receive “The Beast Eye quivers” notifications in the following locations:
- Snow Valley: Your target for the Beast Eye is the Tibia Mariner hiding in a boat near the ruins. He’s summoning all those skeletons.
- Summonwater Village: Your target is another Tibia Mariner.
- Carian Study Hall: The item is dropped by a Tibia Mariner located outside the Carian Study Hall tower.
- Wyndham Ruins: Defeat the Tibia Mariner located to the southern part of the ruins.
- Mountaintop of Giants: Your target is the the Ulcerated Tree Spirit.
- Black Knife Catacombs: You need to defeat the Cemetery Shade, and look for a nearby chest to find Deathroot.
- Haligtree: You can find Deathroot on the Hidden Path to Haligtree. Your target is Commander Niall.
- Deathtouched Catacomb: Defeat the Black Knight assassin and loot the nearby chest to obtain Deathroot.
- Gelmir Hero’s Grave: Loot the chest behind the Red Wolf of the Champion to obtain Deathroot.
The Beast Eye will quiver every time you’re near those locations.
