Valorant: How to Highlight Enemies

enable valorant enemy highlight color

Being colorblind makes you unique but it also brings some disadvantages when it comes to distinguishing colors.

Well, Riot Games introduced a very useful feature for colorblind persons in Valorant. In this guide, we’ll tell you how more about it and how to enable it.

How to turn on Enemy Highlight Color in Valorant

  • Step 1 –  Start Valorant and click on the menu
  • Step 2 – Navigate to Settings
  • Step 3 – Click on General Settings
  • Step 4 – Under the Accessibility, select Enemy Highlight Colorvalorant enemy highlight color
  • Step 5 – Select one of the four colors available to highlight the enemy team:
    •  Red (set by default)
    • Purple – Tritanopia for blue-yellow colorblindness
    • Yellow – Deuteranopia for red-green colorblindness
    • Yellow – Protanopia for red-green colorblindness
  • Step 6 – Save the settings and enjoy the game.

People with protanopia can’t see any red light, those with deuteranopia can’t perceive green and for those with tritanopia, blue does not exist.

Deuteranopia vs Protanopia: What’s the Difference?

People with Deuteranopia or Protanopia (green and red deficiencies) perceive the world in multiple shades of murky greens where blue and yellow are dominant colors. They can’t really tell the difference between oranges, and browns, and easily confuse shades of red and green.

Here are the main differences between Deuteranopes and Protanopes:

Deuteranopes and how they see the world Protanopes and how they see the world
Mid-reds become mid-greens Black turns into many shades of red
Blue-greens become grey and mid-pinks Dark brown becomes dark green
Bright greens are perceived as yellows
Shades of blues become shades of red, purple and dark pink
Pale pinks become light grey Mid-greens are perceived as shades of orange
Mid-reds are seen as mid-browns Dark orange becomes dark red
Light blues are perceived lilac

Many colorblind gamers are really happy Riot introduced this feature and confirmed enemies are much easier to spot now.

I’ve made an online test and discovered that I have “Strong Deutan color blindness”. There is a highlight color in the game specifically for this type of color blindness. The enemies are waay easier to see now! Thanks Mr. Riot!

Of course, if you’re not colorblind but you’re a complete Valorant beginner, you can enable this feature to help you improve enemy visibility and detect enemy team members quicker.

Spotting the enemy team as quickly as possible is a major advantage in shooter games. Even a few milliseconds matter when it comes to taking a precise aim and taking out enemy players before they even see you. Spot the enemies at the right time and you can deliver a successful attack with the help of your teammates.

Both Attackers and Defenders can benefit from this enemy highlight feature to stay ahead of others in the game. Don’t just stick with using weapons, use your Agent’s special powers and take advantage off all the game feature supported to increase your odds of winning.
