Can I remove gems from items in New World?
After placing a gem in your item’s socket, you cannot remove it. The action is permanent. If you accidentally placed the wrong gem in the item socket, you can’t undo the action. But you can always replace the current gem with another one to unlock a different perk.
That’s why you should always take your time and think twice before placing a gem in your item socket. Measure twice, cut once.
