Why is there a yellow border around my Sims 4 game?

If there’s a yellow border around your Sims 4 screen, this indicates you’re capturing video of your gameplay. You may have accidentally enabled the built-in video recording feature or a third-party software is recording your gameplay.

To end the recording and get rid of the yellow box around the Sims 4 screen, press the V key on your keyboard.

The V key works in both Live Mode and Build Mode.

You can also click on the Camera Options button (the camera shutter icon at the bottom of the screen).

From there, you can take a screenshot, manage your photos, or record a video.

When the built-in video capture app is on, the camera button will turn into a red blinking square and a yellow border will show up on your screen.

Think of the yellow border as a visual alert that some app or software is capturing your screen.

Why is there a yellow border around my Sim?

If you go to the Relationships panel and see a yellow border around a Sim alongside a book with a heart, this indicates your Sim has a sentiment with that Sim.

When your Sim randomly has a moment with another Sim, the game will assign a sentiment to better describe their relationship. The interaction can be positive or negative.

For more information, you can open that Sim’s profile. The game will tell exactly what kind of relationship your Sim has with that Sim.

By the way, if you can’t open a Sim’s profile, back out to Manage Worlds and then go back to your Sims.

Happy Simming!
